4 held without bond in beating death of teen at house party

Monique Rivarde said she wants justice for her son who was beaten to death at a house party in Douglas County.

“My son did not die in vain,” said Monique Revaida, the mother of 18-year-old Bobby Maurice Tillman. “Something will be done about these children attacking each other for nothing.”

Police say the party started out small but grew out of control when 50-80 young people showed up after word spread by e-mails and text messages.

According to online reports, when the parents saw the large gathering outside their home, they asked the uninvited guests to leave.

That’s when a fight broke out between two females and two men. One of the females hit a man, said Douglas County Maj. Tommy Wheeler. He said the suspect told him he couldn’t hit a girl, but he would punch the first man who walked by.

It was Tillman’s fate to walk by at that moment. He was pounced upon by a small crowd who punched, stomped and kicked him as he lay on the ground.

“It’s amazing,” said Wheeler. “He had nothing to do with anything, they just decided he’s the one. And they killed him.”

Tillman was still alive when paramedics arrived, but he died before he could be transported to the hospital.

Four men were quickly arrested. They are Quantez Devonta Mallory, Horace Damon Coleman, Emanuel Benjamin Boykins and Tracen Lamar Franklin. They are age 18 to 19. They are being held in Douglas County jail without bond.

“They haven’t even allowed me to call him,” said Erica Hillery, Mallory’s mother. “I feel real bad for the victim’s parents but I need to know what’s going on.”

Douglas County Sheriff Phil Miller is catching heat for rounding up 57 kids from the party and transporting them by bus them to the sheriff’s office for interviews.

“I had six people to interview 57 people,” Miller told the AJC on Monday. “I didn’t violate anybody’s rights. We loaded them onto a bus, there was heat on the bus, they were allowed bathroom breaks and we interviewed 57 people between 2:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Our goal was to find out who murdered this young man.”

“I apologize if I offended anyone, but I’m not required by law to notify parents,” the sheriff told the AJC. “If the parents were so interested, why were those kids out after midnight?”

PICS: R. Kelly at Velvet Room

Disgraced singer R. Kelly performed last night at the Velvet Room in Tucker (a suburb of Atlanta). The house was packed for the Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter. Even though he’s a pedophile, R.Kelly still brings ‘em out.

According to my sources, at one point, the aging “Sex Me” singer spotted a young girl in the crowd and began serenading her. Thinking she was underaged, Kelly said:

“Come here girl. Have you ever heard the song “12 Play”? It’s a little freaky game. Wanna play?”

The young girl (who is over 18) later tweeted about her encounter with Kelly in the VIP.

Indonesia Muslims Protest Obama’s Planned Visit

Outraged Muslims staged protests across Indonesia protesting U.S. President’s planned visit to the Southeast Asia nation tomorrow.

“We don’t see the differences between Obama and Bush, they both oppress Muslims, they both have blood on their hands,” said Ismail Yusanto, a spokesman for the Muslim group in Indonesia.

“That’s why we reject Obama and we don’t believe that he’s reaching out to Muslims.”

I’m just as confused as you are. I thought the Indonesians would welcome Mr. Obama with open arms. Especially when you consider that Indonesia is where Obama learned the Koran and answered the Muslim call to prayer every morning.

Obama is scheduled to arrive in Jakarta on Tuesday as part of a 10-day visit to India, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan.

On Wednesday, Mr. Obama will visit Istiqlal mosque and give a speech from an undisclosed location.

But Muslims remain skeptical of the president.

“Obama can talk all he wants in Cairo and in Jakarta, the fact is that he still has his troops in war with Muslims,” Yusanto said. “It’s all lip service.”

Recap: ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and ‘Fantasia For Real’

Rich over at VH1 blog has the recap of last night’s ‘Fantasia For Real’. This is the episode when Fantasia met up in the park with Antwaun Cook shortly after she tried to take her life earlier this year.

And, Rodney Ho over at the AJC’s Radio & TV Talk blog recaps the buffoonery on last night’s ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ episode.

I’m convinced that Phaedra Parks is working off off a script. There is no way she can be an attorney and be that stupid unless it’s intentional. All of these reality shows are scripted.

- Phaedra Parks pops up at Kim’s garage sale and said she’s going to be induced in a week. The other ladies do the math and openly question how she could be induced at (supposedly) seven months. Phaedra said her baby was already eight pounds. She also claims she knows someone who had a kid weighing nine pounds three months early. Really? Kim and NeNe both openly wonder why Phaedra is prevaricating on her time of conception. Phaedra’s response to the cameras: “The ladies are grilling me about the due date. Nobody has a job. They have to do something to fill up their spare time!” [link]

Rumor Control: Monica Denies Pregnancy Rumors

So last night I logged onto my Twitter page to catch up on the latest tweets, when I noticed two of my loyal readers commenting back and forth on R&B Diva Monica’s thrilling performance on BET’s Black Girls Rock.

@vibaby, who was chatting with @eastpointvet, tweeted “Monica is pregnant…”

Jokingly, I retweeted her tweet and I added: “Why am I the last to know?” Suddenly, my cell phone blew up with calls. Before I could tweet, “I was only kidding!,” Mo herself text messaged me to confirm that she was not pregnant with fiance Shannon Brown’s child.

Here’s what she wrote:

My cousin just texted and asked ‘why are u the last to know’….. I am ABSOLUTELY not pregnant. God’s Grace, Great kids, Great Family and Super good love sometimes = what we in the country call happy weight. LOL. No worries. Jesus I have gotten tons of calls. Not because u said it. But my publicist said people are asking her. I didn’t look that different to me. LOL…. Oh, well.

So there you have it. If Mo was pregnant, I’m sure she would let her fans know the happy news immediately. You would not learn the joyous news on Twitter.com.

New Music: Michael Jackson – “Breaking News”

New music from the late pop icon Michael Jackson. No, this isn’t the track that was supposedly released by Katherine Jackson to counteract Sony’s upcoming MJ release.

According to Roger Friedman’s Showbiz 411, “Breaking News” is a track that was written by Michael about himself.

“Who is that boogeyman you’re thinking of?/Why is it strange that I would fall in love?,” Michael sings.

“Breaking News” was produced by Teddy Riley. It was recorded in August 2007.
