I think babies born dark get lighter, and babies born light get darker. I was the a gorgeous shade of mocha brown at 1-3 but then I had paled out tremendously by age 6. And now….. I use tanning lotion and bronzer religiously to “lift” the paleness and make me a nice golden-caramel color.
But in all of my winter pictures without makeup (or a mid-winter vacation to a sunny island), I look like Casper. And its ugly. (No shade to the lighter-skinned folks). We’re all beautiful.
