Angelina Jolie names first Jolie Legal Fellow

Angelina Jolie, long-time supporter of SOS Children’s Villages, this week congratulated the first Jolie Legal Fellow, Nathalie Nozile, an SOS Children’s Villages alumna.

Ms. Nozile, an attorney, pictured above center with Jolie and Dr. Heather Paul, CEO of SOS Children’s Villages – USA, is an alumnus of SOS Children’s Villages program in Santo, Haiti. SOS Children’s Villages is a global organization dedicated to providing family-based services for children without parental care.

Ms. Nozile was selected after graduating from the University of Florida’s Levin College of Law this past spring.

The Jolie Legal Fellowship, created and funded by the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, supports the Government of Haiti’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the Haitian judicial system in the challenging post-earthquake environment. Jolie Legal Fellows are attorneys who will concentrate on the protection of Haiti’s most vulnerable children in the judicial system, by serving as special assistants to key Government of Haiti officials. Ms. Nozile leaves for Haiti later this month to begin her work.

“I am thrilled that Nathalie Nozile will be our first legal fellow in Haiti – where the need to enhance child protection is so great,” said Angelina Jolie. “Nathalie has a heartfelt commitment to improve conditions in her homeland, and brings to her work the unique perspective of growing up in an SOS Village. There, she learned firsthand the importance to a childhood of a stable and nurturing environment. Now, as a promising attorney, she will draw on her personal experience as she returns to help strengthen the Haitian judicial system. Nathalie will be working to help ensure equal access to justice and the protection of children’s rights in Haiti.”

Jolie and her life partner Brad Pitt donated $150,000 to the SOS Children’s Villlages in 2010.

    I LOVE THE PITT JOLIE’S. This chick puts her money where her mouth is (or however that’s supposed to go)

    She maybe a bit crazy…I mean anybody who would wear a vile of blood around their neck can’t be all together there (and I don’t care how old you are) but she definately does a great thing with giving back.

    Congrats to Nozile as well for beating seemingly insurmountable odds to become an attorney and want to give back. Great post Sandy and even better, you didn’t throw shade :clap:

    This is awesome. Angelina was a UN Goodwill Ambassador long before she hooked up with Brad. So I don’t knock her for her personal life but I applaud her for giving back. She’s using her celebrity status to shine the spotlight on serious issues, good for her.

    I think Jolie uses these sort of events to cover for her “tawdry” past and to create some sort of good will to shield her from obvious criticisms about her lack of acting ability.

    This can only work for so long, due to the fact that she is only cast in roles due to her (alleged) sexual appeal. Once this wanes, and her ability to draw roles wanes with it, she will have no need for the “publicity stunt” and all of these “charities” will fall by the wayside.

    I give it 3 years… 5 years at most.

    Yeah the Dammm Govment is a shady organization. I don’t understand why ppl GIVE to these Relief fund bullcrap. Am always wanting to lend a hand and help the needed.     Well personally I don’t keep up with a celebs personal life like that, ezpecially clear folks. I don’t know about her besides what I see on here and the ONE other blog site I go to becuase I just really don’t care about a complete stranger’s personal life like that. I have my OWN to deal with.
