New Music: Wiz Khalifa – Roll Up
According to Hip Hop historian, Elliott Wilson, the gay rapper Wiz Khalifa’s next big hit is “Roll Up” off his upcoming album, Rolling Papers. This kid is such a great role model for your kids. Let’s see, he’s only 23 and he’s been arrested 50-11 times on drug-related charges. Not to mention that all of his lyrics muse whimsically about his favorite herb, including the nauseatingly annoying dope boy theme song, “Black and Yellow”. And he’s supposedly dating professional beard Amber Rose. Lyrically, Wiz Khalifa’s skills are elementary. Still, “Roll Up” is a major improvement over that BS “Black and Yellow”.

Why do I get the feeling his itinerary looks something like this:
Monday, January 30th:
a) purchase weed
b) take Amber Rose out in public and get our picture taken hoping that someone will give me more respect since I pulled Kanye’s broad
c) go into the studio, smoke weed, lay tracks
d) call Amber Rose and ask why she hasn’t come to the studio so all the brothers can see her.
e) get my weed and go home and then send Amber Rose to her girlfriends house
Tuesday, February 1st:
a) Buy weed
b) smoke weed
c) annual bath
d) Buy an n-95 mask for Amber Rose to wear while mixing chemicals to get that ring from around the bathtub.
e) pick an outfit from the dirty clothes basket and head to show in Memphis.
I wish Devin the Dude could get put on mainstream. His “dope” songs are much more dope than Wiz’s!

Exactly. We all know that song has nothing to with the Steelers and more to do with drug sales.
Black and Yellow is not about drugs
It’s the colors of the Pittsburgh Steelers and that’s where he’s from. I didn’t like the song at all…the lyrics were not up to par. I’ve heard alot better from Wiz.
However…it is what it is…he makes superficial songs about blowing trees and shyt. If you’re listening to hear something deep you should find another artist. Personally I prefer his buddy Curren$y…but I’ll jam them both when i’m in the mood #kanyeshrug

One of my students told me months ago that the song is about drugs. Not sure what the correlation is, but I think she has some experience with the “stuff”. Must ask her to elaborate for me.

You’re right, he’s talking about selling drugs in the song. If you drive down the street in the hood parts of Pittsburgh, you’ll hear the corner boys yelling “Black and yellow!” “Black and yellow!” It means they’re selling drugs.
