Cavaliers distance themselves from golden-voiced Ted Williams

The Cleveland Cavaliers and parent company Quicken Loans have taken steps to distance themselves from the formerly homeless, golden-voiced Ted Williams, one day after he agreed to enter a drug and alcohol rehab program.

Williams, who lied about being sober for two years, was a guest on the Dr. Phil show yesterday. At Dr. Phil’s urging, Williams, 53, agreed to enter rehab after his daughter said he’d been drinking every night since being plucked from obscurity as he stood panhandling on the side of a highway.

The nation’s largest home lender sent out a press release today confirming the company’s commitment to “discuss his work interests and help him create a path for future professional success.” That’s a slight deviation from the solid offer the Cavs previously made to Williams, offering him a job at Quicken Loans arena and a home.

Even as the Cavaliers renewed their commitment to help Williams, they took steps to distance themselves from him, such as taking down WeWantTedWilliams.com the comment board that was launched by the Cavs last week to encourage Williams to accept their job offer.

The website now redirects to the Quicken loans home page.

Usher booed off the stage in Berlin

Usher felt a little under the weather when he arrived in Berlin earlier this week for the final leg of his OMG World Tour. The 32-year-old singer cancelled his sold out concert on Wednesday night due to a sinus infection. But he didn’t feel any better during the makeup show last night, so he left the stage after performing only 5 songs.

Usher apologized to the rowdy fans who promptly booed him off the stage. Usher’s next stop is Lyons, France. Berlin fans aren’t eligible for refunds because he did perform.

Your Zodiac sign hasn’t changed

I am probably one of the few black people on earth who doesn’t believe in Zodiac signs or horoscopes. I think horoscopes are about as believable as fortune cookies. That horoscope you read every morning could apply to anyone under any sign. It’s real only if you believe it’s real. That same principal of belief is what earned Miss Cleo and her infomercials over $1 billion before she was unmasked as a fraud by the federal government.

Anyway, yesterday a story in the Minneapolis Star Tribune set online social networks on fire. The story asserted that the dates of the zodiac signs have changed, and if you were, for instance, a Capricorn, you would now be Aquarius, etc. Naturally, a lot of people who follow that nonsense nearly lost their minds.

But nothing has changed, according to Jeff Jawer, an astrologer with Tarot.com, “This story is born periodically as if someone has discovered some truth. It’s not news.”

“When we look at the astrology used in the Western world, the seasonally based astrology has not changed, was never oriented to the constellations, and stands as … has been stated for two millenniums,” Jawer said.

People who put stock in astrology can ask whether they should adhere to the tropical zodiac or the sidereal zodiac. Jawer argues for the tropical. 1

“Astrology is geocentric. It relates life on Earth to the Earth’s environment, and seasons are the most dramatic effect, which is why we use the tropical zodiac,” he said.

Celebs Out & About: Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries?

According to other mainstream blogs, socialite Kim Kardashian, 30, was spotted going into the Beverly Hills Four Seasons hotel with her NJ Nets boyfriend, Kris Humphries, 25. I’ve never heard of the 6’9″ Humphries until Kim started letting him follow her around. I was told that Humphries was biracial. But the man in the pictures looks like he’s 100% Caucasian with not a drop of black blood in him. Yet it might be him because the Nets are in town to play the Lakers tonight.

Can someone (who cares) confirm whether this is Kris?

Celebs Out & About: Lil Jon, Cee Lo Green, DJ Samantha Ronson

DJ-turned-rapper Lil Jon celebrated his 40th birthday with DJ Samantha Ronson, 33, and a special performance by Cee Lo Green at Club ‘Greenhouse’ in the SoHo neighborhood of Manhattan last night. Lil Jon’s actual birth date is Jan. 17. Lil Jon will be part of the cast on the fourth season of Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice, which premieres on March 6.

The club’s co-owner Barry Mullineaux flew DJ Samantha in to DJ the gig alongside Lil Jon. This proves that Samantha’s DJing services are still in great demand even though she’s no longer with her famous ex-girlfriend, Lindsay Lohan.

Cee Lo Green, 36, is among the stellar acts who will perform during the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards, to take place on Feb. 13 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Also scheduled to perform are Drake, Eminem, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and country singer Miranda Lambert.

Just when we were beginning to wonder what ever happened to former Danity Kane member D. Woods, she pops out of the woodwork with hawt new photos to promote her mixtape entitled, Lady in the Streets.

Exclusive: Vivica’s hunky fiance, Slimm, eats to stay fit

As you know, local nightclub promoter Omar “Slimm” White, 27, recently proposed to his fiancee, actress Vivica A. Fox, while on holiday in Miami. Slimm surprised Vivica, 46, with a sparkling $60k, 8 carat rock for Christmas.

While visiting Slimm’s facebook page today looking for cell phone pics, I happened to notice that he was a dedicated vegan. I had no idea he was a vegan. So I reached out to Slimm to find out what inspired him to change his diet.

“I changed my diet based on my father passing from stage 4 lung cancer and [watching him] going through the whole chemotherapy and radiation process,” said Slimm. “Once you learn more about the human anatomy and healthy nutrition, it inspires you to want to eat better,” he said.

Slimm said he no longer eats processed meats or canned food. Instead, he said he eats a nutritious diet that consists of fresh organic home grown fruits, beans, greens and rice.

“I eat a lot of raw foods and vegetables. Cooked food isn’t that good for you,” he said. “Once you cook it past a certain temperature, you’re killing the nutrients. You’re basically putting dead food back into your body.”

Slimm said that while his fiancee, Vivica, eats healthy foods (no pork, candy or sodas) — she’s not a vegan like he is. “She tries to [eat vegan food]. She eats a lot of veggies and fruits.”

Slimm said when Viv is in town they usually compromise on their restaurant destination.

“I go to my spot to eat, or we go to her spot… I always try to compromise,” he said.

“I’m not the kind of person to preach or try to convert nobody. I respect people for who they are.”
