Democratic Congresswoman Shot, At Least 4 Dead *Update*
There are conflicting reports on Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords health status. CNN continues to report Giffords is dead, while MSNBC and other news outlets report she is alive and in surgery.

The following was originally posted today (Jan. 8, 2011) @ 2:27 pm
According to online reports and wire news services, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot and killed during a rally today in Tucson, Arizona. She was 40.
Witnesses say a young man, in his 20s, ran up and shot the congresswoman “point blank in the head” as she spoke to a couple outside a Safeway grocery store around 10 am (1 pm EST).
A witness spoke with Gawker.com:
The man was young, mid-to-late 20s, white clean-shaven with short hair and wearing dark clothing and said nothing during the shooting or while being held down. He didn’t look like a businessman, but more of a “fringe character,” our source said.
12 bystanders were shot, with at least 6 dead. Giffords is married to an astronaut. Jonathan Allen of Politico says that Giffords is involved with immigration and armed services issues.
Giffords was talking to a couple when the suspect ran up firing indiscriminately and then ran off, Michaels said. According to other witnesses, he was tackled by a bystander and taken into custody.
Upon hearing the tragic news, CNN political contributor Donna Brazile tweeted:
When Twitter Goes Horribly Wrong: Foxy Brown’s Homophobic Rant
Loyal reader Shyandthecity writes:
Hello Miss Sandra,
I’m a huge fan of your blog and I just wanted to send you a screen cap of Foxy Brown’s disgusting homophobic Rant on Twitter. I am offended by this disgusting person that used to be a rapper in the 90′s. How she tweet something so disgusting and hateful? Doesn’t she know that she needs every fan she can get? ugh! smh
Thank God for artists like Marsha [Ambrosius] from Floetry for spreading love, not such hate.

The Game Ordered to pay his cousin 50K for assault during funeral
Rapper The Game’s pockets will be a little lighter soon. The 31-year-old father of 3 was ordered to pay his cousin $50,000 in damages resulting from an assault that occurred during his sister’s funeral in Los Angeles in 2008.
The Game, real name Jayceon Taylor, reportedly disagreed with his share of the funeral costs for his sister Shannon Johnson. A verbal argument escalated into a brawl involving The Game, his cousin Robert ‘Kirky’ Kirkwood, and other family members at the funeral home.
The Game was arrested and charged with assault and battery.
According to court documents, Kirkwood claimed he suffered “severe and permanent injuries” as a result of the altercation. He sought $50,000 in compensation for his medical expenses, loss of income and pain and suffering.
Last night, The Game joined troubled singer chris brown, right, in a late night studio session for brown’s long-awaited fourth studio CD F.A.M.E.
Audio: Tiny Explains Getting Frisky With T.I. During Prison Visit

T.I.’s wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris called into the Rickey Smiley radio show yesterday to explain the incident that got her man confined to a “special housing unit” last weekend.
Tiny, 35, confirmed to TMZ.com that the two were in a room together during regular visiting hours on Sunday (Jan. 2) when Tiny “made like Michael Jackson … and beat it.”
Inmates are allowed to kiss and embrace at the beginning and at the end of each visit as well as hold hands — but “the inmate’s hands must remain in plain view of Visiting Room staff at all times.”
According to Tiny, T.I., 30, was reprimanded and sent to a “Special Housing Unit” — which consists of more security and less freedom. His liberal access to the prison phones and email were also cut off. Tiny hasn’t heard from her man since Sunday, and she doesn’t know when she will be allowed to visit him again.
Rapper 50 Cent Premieres New Headphones Line
Dr. Dre, LeBron James, Ludacris and Sean “Puffy” Combs have their own line of headphones, so why not Fiddy Cent? The troubled rapper joins the growing list of artists and athletes, such as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Quincy Jones, who have released their own studio quality headphones for consumers.
50 Cent attended the Release Party for his Sleek By 50 Cent Wireless Headphones at Marquee Nightclub In The Cosmopolitan last night in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The 35-year-old fading rap star tells MTV.com:
“I took the time [and] made sure [that] I secured myself before releasing the product to the general public [and that] it might be matched up against Beats By Dre. I knew that immediately that they would make those comparisons and I made sure I secured myself by having something that wasn’t actually in the marketplace. It’s exciting, new and innovative.”
The headphones are expected to retail at $350.
