Rapper 50 Cent Premieres New Headphones Line

Dr. Dre, LeBron James, Ludacris and Sean “Puffy” Combs have their own line of headphones, so why not Fiddy Cent? The troubled rapper joins the growing list of artists and athletes, such as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Quincy Jones, who have released their own studio quality headphones for consumers.

50 Cent attended the Release Party for his Sleek By 50 Cent Wireless Headphones at Marquee Nightclub In The Cosmopolitan last night in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 35-year-old fading rap star tells MTV.com:

“I took the time [and] made sure [that] I secured myself before releasing the product to the general public [and that] it might be matched up against Beats By Dre. I knew that immediately that they would make those comparisons and I made sure I secured myself by having something that wasn’t actually in the marketplace. It’s exciting, new and innovative.”

The headphones are expected to retail at $350.

Neither. Any audiophile knows that headphones released to the consumer such as beats by dre and bose (these ones also, guranteed) are nothing but over priced pieces of plastic with a big brand name. Beats by dre, are ok at best, but definetly does not reflect its price and neither will these. These headphones are catered to the general consumer who does not know any better and are tricked into thinking they have the best headphones on the market, when in reality other companies out there that are catered to knowledgeable audio enthusiasts blow the doors off any of these companies that sell the products at their local best buy. Same goes for mp3 players! Ipods and zunes have a nice interface, but are unmatched in sound quality by smaller companies not bent on world domination such as cowon.

I just don’t see how throwing 50 into the mix suddenly makes the product worth $350. Did he design them? Did he produce them? Did he get involved with the technical aspects and electronics? Was he even a consultant? Highly doubt it. If I stretch my mind I can understand Dre pushing headphones because of his history as a producer and DJ, he probably has a legitimate ear for sound quality but 50? I can’t see any reason other than marketing ploys. Oh well, I don’t blame 50 for making money, not that he needs anymore.

I know erryone is all *gasp* and shock and awe at the ‘spensive headgears. But they aren’t aimed at the readers of this blog, they are aimed at the iphone4, ipad generation the college kids and high schoolers buy these. Not adults.

If I pay $40 for some cot damn earphones that are only going to be in decent condition as long as I can keep them out of my kids hands I expect those bad boys to be studio quality. AT $350 they need to be able to go out and get a job or generate income in some kind of way.

u gotta be more specific because dre has a line with like 6 different models. the ones i own the studio beats got impressive reviews including pc mag where they got a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Dre got this on lock any other celeb will sale a few a best but the smart ones partner with dre and just endorse they own line through him.

good luck! fitty……but Dr. Dre has already made his “Beats” a household item in yuppy-america. Dre’s line has really expanded to an offspring of audio accessories, so good luck catching up.
