In Case You Missed It: Braxton Family Values S1, E1 (full)

‘Braxton Family Values’ series debut starring The Braxton sisters premiered last night on the Women’s Entertainment Network (WE). The show centers around Grammy Award winning singer Toni Braxton, her mom, Evelyn, her four younger sisters, Traci, Towanda, Trina and Tamar, and their husbands, all of whom are very loving and supportive of their wives.

Even though Toni, 43, is billed as the series star, it is her youngest sister, Tamar Braxton, (pronounced Tay-mahr) who provided the spark for the series premiere last night.

Tamar, 34, and her husband, Vincent Herbert’s liberal use of the domain names .com and .org, appended to the end of every sentence, made Tamar a trending topic on Twitter.com last night.

In a tweet posted on Twitter last night, I asked Tamar how she thought Toni would react now that Tamar is the breakout star of the show. “Toni is my best friend in the world! She loves me!,” she responded emphatically.

But all love aside, Toni has been known to be very competitive. And nothing gets a woman’s competitive juices flowing than sibling rivalries. “I created this show. She didn’t want to do it at first,” Tamar explained. “[Toni] is also [executive] producer with me on this. She knows where she stands!”

Alrighty then…

In episode 1 titled “The Bermuda Triangle,”, Toni is ready to relaunch her singing career. So she invites her four younger sisters to join her for a benefit concert in sunny Bermuda. But old rivalries and resentments threaten to ruin what was meant to be a joyful family reunion.

You see how she looks in this photo…..seems like she’s being herself. The sisters said she’s always complaining.
Also, I saw Toni walk towards the stage with a wavy ponytail. Bish walked on the stage with that waist length hair and I was like damn that’s alot of hair changes. I didn’t even understand the purpose of the ponytail. Maybe it was for the pictures before the show.

I watched Toya last night. It was alot to take in, with who did or didn’t do for their addicted mom. Toya sent her money to pay rent, brother had to replace money for rent because she used it for drugs.

That confrontation btw Toya and her Bro brought up an interesting point. When you have a parent or relative who is addicted…is it your responsiblity to take care of said person and make sure they are paying their bills? And if Nita has been and addict for 24 yrs, that is the majority of Toya’s life. Why should she miss out on living her life bc of the choices her Mom was making? I’m surprised that none of the younger kids have any effects of being drug babies. Actually, I take that back bc Rudy and Casey for sure do act a lil slow.

I enjoyed the show. Me, being an only child, I am always intrigued by the dynamics of siblings, especially when you have as many as the Braxtons. I think once you have 3 or more children, they start to form their on cliques, and I find that so facinating. You can tell the teams are Toni and Towanda, Trina and Tamar, and poor Traci is out there by herself.

Tamar is hilarious! She is so dramatic. I would love to see her and Evelyn Lozada go at it. That argument would be full of dot com and dot org references while Evelyn telling her she is a NMMF…..LOL.

toni and tamar have seriously flukked up their faces with cheap plastic surgery, lip injections/sculpting and botox. they look all waxy and crooked! the five tons of makeup don’t help and the extra-ness that is Tamar is too much. you can tell she’s trying too hard to be the “breakout star” (and i use the term loosely) on the show.

this show is a train wreck and they don’t have sense enough to be embarassed!

I stopped wanting a sibling once I became a teenager. My parents bought me my first car when i was 14 so I could practice driving before I tried for license…that’s when I TRULY realized, I think I am going to see where this only child thing takes me :LOL:

But now that my parents are getting older, I am starting to think about things like their care etc. and it would be nice to have someone to share that responsibility with if and when that day comes.

@Leap wanting to know the intricacies of sibling interactions. I was my mom’s only child until I was 17 and am still my father’s and stepmom’s only one. Youre rigfht about the care factor though. Whenever Daddy doesn’t give me my way I remind him that Im his only child and it could end up all bad.

Tamar is a lie about not wanting to sing backup for Toni because she was one of her backups (along with Sparkle) when she was giving lap dances and calling them concerts at her Vegas residency.

I heard about Toni creating a show but didn’t have any idea it premiered yesterday. Watching the video, I can’t help but feel sad for the entire Braxton clan.

I was blessed to have siblings; two sisters and one brother. We all have our vices but nothing like this…..

This episode and the drama it entails, scripted or real, I’ve never seen such jealousy and resentfulness amongst siblings. Bottom line, all of the sisters are jealous of Toni’s success. From what I can see, Toni’s the one who made it and tried to share the spotlight with her sisters by including them as her background singers and/or executive assistant. Instead of being thankful for the opportunity to travel to different cities and countries, be introduced to many celebrities, EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM they are resentful (maybe with the exception of Trina)!! And Tamar, bless her heart, her attitude is the exact reason why she wasn’t successful as a solo artist. She is her own worst enemy and has blocked her own blessings. After all it’s said and done, I wish them all the best….
