1 Dead, 1 Critically Injured in Fall from W Hotel Window

There are conflicting reports about an accident involving two women who fell from a window at the W hotel in midtown Atlanta last night. One woman is dead and the other is in critical condition at Grady hospital.

According to both the AJC and WSB-TV, a party was going on at 3:30 am when the women started “play fighting” and broke through a fortified window (which isn’t easy to break). The women had attended an all-white party or a birthday party at the hotel.

According to WSB-TV, the two women fell from the 10th floor of the posh hotel located at 14th and Peachtree streets. But the AJC reports that the women fell from the 7th floor. A Facebook user who claims she attended the party last night says the women fell from the roof of the hotel.

Both women landed on a 5th floor ledge that broke their fall from either the 10th or 7th floors. One woman died on the 5th floor ledge. The other woman rolled off the ledge and fell an additional 5 floors to the ground. She is in critical condition at Grady, according to the AJC.

“It is really miraculous that anyone could survive that,” an onlooker Chris Cortnay told WSB.

The identities of both women are being withheld until the families are notified.

It just shows you life is too short to sweat the small stuff. I knew both of the women. It’s sad but what kind of “play fighting” would crash 2 women out of it. They barely weigh 100lbs. Unless somebody is lying

I deff think its more to this story..play fighting just doesn’t sound right to me! At what point would you play that rough to fall throw your friend threw a window? I think ppl obviously didn;t think it would end this way so they are covering up something! If I was play fighting with my girlfriend I wouldn’t throw her into a window!

I feel you dblag, something does seem weird here, someone may be lying or withholding some pertinent information. The woman that died was a aspiring model and on one of her model pages it said she was only 5’7″ and 115lbs. The glass and frame on these types of windows are reinforced, so how the hell they crashed through like that is just crazy.
