Last night belonged to singer Beyoncé at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas — judging by the euphoric, greatly exaggerated tweets of Beyoncé’s Stans.

Basically, all Beyoncé did was stand in front of a huge white screen and interact with dazzling graphic effects in a movie that was projected onto the giant screen behind her. My astute followers on Twitter noted correctly that Beyoncé stole the graphics part of her performance from Janet Jackson’s “Feedback” music video.

After the movie ended, Beyoncé danced with 100 or so underpaid dancers as fireworks rained down on the stage. Then she shook her weave wildly to and fro, before tipping into the audience with an exaggerated cat walk that the gays on the ballroom scene do so much better than her.

I couldn’t believe this was the same performance that Bey’s Stans on Twitter were raving about! And apparently I wasn’t the only one who failed to see what all the excitement was about:

After her performance, Beyoncé accepted her Billboard Millenium award from her mom, Tina Knowles, and her nephew Juelz Smith. Bey graciously thanked Destiny’s Child members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. Then Bey added a nice touch by thanking long forgotten DC members Latavia Roberson and Letoya Luckett. But she curiously left out Farrah Franklin, her wig maker and the manufacturer of her favorite bleaching cream.

Of course everyone made note of the fact that Beyoncé thanked Jay Z — like what wife wouldn’t thank her husband?

If it wasn’t for the special effects, the fireworks and the 100 underpaid dancers, Beyoncé’s performance would have generated more yawns than Nicki Minaj’s did.
