New Music: Beyonce – 1+1

According to Miss Info, Beyonce’s new single “1+1” was just released moments ago. The hard core Bey fans are raving about this beautiful pop ballad. It’s standard Beyonce fare; she’s forcefully singing over accompanying piano and guitar chords.

“Hey, I don’t know much about guns, but I-I’ve been shot by YOU/ Hey, and I don’t know when I’m gone die, but I hope that I’m gone die by YOU!, she sings.

“1+1” is the opening track off Beyonce’s much-anticipated ‘4’ album, which you can pre-order here. The album is in stores June 28, 2011. She performed the song on tonight’s season final of ‘American Idol’ which was won by country singer Scotty McCreery.

I LOVE this song!! This is my FAV Bey song in years. I want to hear the song she has with Andre 3K. Now if her cd has an r&b feel then I will support and buy it. Well done Bey

I really like this song. I don’t think she was over-singing at all. She had a lot of control over her voice while still singing with a lot of emotion, which is really difficult to do.

@Sierra I agree she wasnt over singing to me either. Bey can holla/scream at times when she thinks she is taking it to church but this song she showed restraint and for the 1st time since Dangerously In Love I felt her emotion

I do like the song, especially the music. But, I do think she was over singing a bit and hit a few notes wrong. JMO…

One of my favorite songs by her is ‘Flaws and All’ and everytime I listen to it I wish she had sung it a bit softer…but she did control her voice on this song as best she could…

I’m sorry (well, not really) but I listened to the first TWO lines and was immediately annoyed by her voice…I was already annoyed by that classless, ghetto twang she speaks with in the beginning “CAN I JUSS SANG TO YALL FUH A SECEND” Ugh!!

If the majority of soceity was not so simple minded, I don’t think beyonce would be an “icon”…

She’s from Houston Texas which is in the South so that’s just the way she speaks.

I didn’t know having a southern accent was considered classless ghetto twang but ok…

@Daisy Yeah but I went to college with people who weren’t from the south that assumed we were dumb and slow because of the way we spoke (with a southern accent). I hate when people do that.

Im prob. gonna get shot for saying this….. But wouldnt JAzmine Sullivan sound sooooooooooooooooooo much better singing this song??? I wont lie I do like the song but for me (my opinion alone) Bey lacks the soul that this song needs…. I mean I might even be able to take this from Mary( studio version only lol) But this is a pretty song…

I listened to the first 30secs. I think it could grow on me if her voice wasn’t so shrill with the line endings, the yous ooohs and whoos. I think she sounds ok as long as he controls her voice and doesn’t scream and get to over the top.

As far as how she sounds when she speaks, I don’t see how her being southern is a viable excuse. I know alot of southern ppl who don’t sound that way. Hell, Kelly grew up in a house with her and doesn’t sound that way.

i actually liked the song. she sound serious and she wore her wedding ring. like she said, she loves her some jay-z and how she sang that song, i really, really believe. to me, it sound better live than on her cd. p.s. i just can’t take this. 1+1 is arithmetic, not al-geh-ba.
