Celebs Out & About: Derrick Rose, Ne-Yo, Sheree, Slimm at Primal
NBA MVP Derrick Rose and his hapless Chicago Bulls suffered a setback to their NBA championship hopes when our Atlanta Hawks breezed to a 100-88 win over the Bulls in game 4 at the Philips Arena yesterday.
The Hawks’ easy win evens the Eastern Conference semifinals series at 2 games apiece. Game 5 is Tuesday night in Chicago.
According to local club promoters Slimm and Mr. Plush of Plush Blue Entertainment, Derrick Rose partied hard with teammates Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer of the Bulls at Primal nightclub on Friday night in Atlanta after the game. They say the affable Derrick made a quick $15,000 for his appearance at Primal.
Singer/songwriter Ne-Yo as well as Sheree of the ‘Real Housewives’ were also in attendance at Primal Friday night.
Derrick was seen knocking back a few in the VIP at the Thursday night party at Gold Room sponsored by AG Entertainment. All that hard partying may have affected his game yesterday. Still, Rose scored 34 points to Atlanta Hawks’ Josh Smith’s 16.
Rose, 22, is the youngest NBA player in the history of the NBA to win the MVP award. He also scored a career high 44 points in game 3 against the Hawks the same night of the party.

Kobe Bryant “The Mavs Played Extremely Well”
The Dallas Mavericks overcame the odds with a game 4 rout to sweep the hapless Los Angeles Lakers four games to none in Dallas yesterday. Afterwards, LA Lakers forward Kobe Bryant choked down some humble pie while giving credit where it was due during post game interviews.
Kobe was more subdued yesterday after telling reporters they were “tripping” last week when the Lakers were down 2-0 in the series. He said the Mavericks, who drained 21 three pointers in game 4, played “extremely well.” And considering the rumors we’d heard, it was hard to believe Kobe when he said he learned a lot from departing head coach Phil Jackson who’s retiring after leading the Lakers to 5 NBA titles.
Would You Take a Bullet for Your Man Or Agree to Live in a Cave?
An early interview with Osama bin Laden’s youngest wife revealed what life was like on the run with the world’s most wanted terrorist.
Amal Ahmed Abdul Fatah – thought to be Bin Laden’s fifth and final wife — took a bullet in her calf when she rushed toward Navy SEAL commandos as they entered bin Laden’s bedroom in the early hours of Monday, May 2nd.
In interviews with Pakistani interrogators, Amal said she and bin Laden never left the upper two floors of the house in 5 years.
Amal married bin Laden when she was 19-years-old. Bin Laden’s other four wives were much older than her, as were some of his sons. Bin Laden’s first wife, Saada, was said to be furious that bin Laden, the son of a billionaire, was living in caves. She may have encouraged his other three wives to rebel at their living conditions as well.
So bin Laden sent his most trusted aide to Yemen to find him a new wife. Osama’s only requirements were that she be “religious, generous, well-brought up, quiet, calm and young enough not to feel jealous of his other wives”.
Bin Laden showered Amal and her family with $5,000 worth of clothes and jewelry. Amal’s family was thrilled that the Al Qaeda chief wanted to marry Amal. The wedding ceremony took place before 9/11 and bin Laden was already on the U.S. Most Wanted list for other terrorist acts.
According to TIME magazine, Amal, who has been described as 24, 27 or 29 in media reports, gave an interview to a women’s Saudi magazine in 2002. In the interview she described uprooting her life and moving to a “mountainous area” when the U.S. started bombing Afghanistan after 9/11.
According to British tabloid The Daily Mail, she said:
‘When the U.S. bombing of Afghanistan started, we moved to a mountainous area with some children and lived in one of the caves for two months until one of his sons came with a group of tribesmen and took us with them.”
Amal and the children were handed over to Pakistani authorities who then assisted her in returning to Yemen.
“I did not know that we were going to Pakistan until they handed us over to the Pakistani government,” she said.
When asked if she would one day see bin Laden again, she responded “Let us see what happens.” At the time, the CIA was well aware of her existence, and questions abound as to why they didn’t keep a closer eye on her in the years following 9/11.
At some point, around 2005, Amal and bin Laden reunited, and together with two of his wives and eight of his 20 children, they moved into the compound near Islamabad, Pakistan.
Exclusive video footage aired on Al Jazeera television yesterday revealed the squalid, rancid conditions in which bin Laden and his family lived inside the walled compound that was described by U.S. officials as a $1 million mansion. Pakistani real estate brokers say the compound was not worth more than $250,000.
Bin Laden was so image conscious that he sat on the dirty floor for hours changing channels on the satellite TV looking for news coverage of himself.
Shaky video shows garbage strewn about the building — inside and out. It’s hard to imagine that a billionaire lived with women and children in such appalling conditions. But bin Laden shunned material things and he hated Americans for being materialistic.
Bin Laden was so paranoid about being captured by U.S. forces that he ordered all garbage to be burned on the grounds inside the compound rather than being set out by the curb for pickup.
The trash that couldn’t be burned was left to pile up on every floor of the 3-story house in huge mounds of filth for the 5 years that they lived there.

Obama Meets With Navy SEALS; Says Economy Rebounding
Buoyed by the news that the economy unexpectedly added more than 200,000 jobs last month, U.S. President Barack Obama visited a transmission plant in Indianapolis today to promote his clean energy agenda.
Obama didn’t mention the execution of the world’s #1 terrorist, Osama bin Laden, by special Navy SEAL commando forces on Monday. Instead he focused on the early signs of an economic recovery.
“We’ve made this progress at a time when our economy’s been facing some serious headwinds,” the president told workers, citing high gas prices and the earthquake in Japan.
But the highlight of Obama’s agenda was his visit to the returning Navy SEALS, Night Stalkers and helicopter crews of the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell in Kentucky today.
As demonstrators all over Pakistan burned American flags in mass protests of bin Laden’s death, Obama thanked the helicopter crews that flew the Navy SEAL commandos into Abbottabad where Osama had been hiding out for the last 5 years.
Bin Laden’s youngest wife, who was injured during the raid, said she and bin Laden never left the upper two floors of the million dollar mansion in the 5 years since they moved in.

Beyoncé Drops “God Bless The USA”
Beyoncé Knowles dropped her version of “God Bless The USA” last night on CNN’s “Piers Morgan Tonight” — just days after close family friend, U.S. President Barack Obama, killed the world’s #1 terrorist.
The single is now available on iTunes.
Proceeds from the sales of the song will benefit the New York Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund. Good for Beyonce for showing her benevolent side. She really needs the shine, especially now that the entire industry is whispering about how Kelly Rowland’s single, “Motivation”, leaped past Bey’s “Run The World Girls” on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
You really have to be a hard core Beyoncé Stan not to see that Beyoncé’s reign is finally over.
Champion Dumps Steelers’ Mendenhall Over Bin Laden Tweets
I bet Pittsburgh Steeler Rashard Mendenhall will keep his opinions to himself from now on.
Yesterday it was reported that the 23-year-old Steelers running back lost a major endorsement contract with Champion over his controversial tweets about 9/11 mastermind Osama Bin Laden.
Hours after Bin Laden was shot to death during a raid of his hideout early Monday, Mendenhall took to his Twitter page and tweeted:
“What kind of person celebrates death? It’s amazing how people can HATE a man they have never even heard speak. We’ve only heard one side…”
But it was his next tweet about September 11 that really did him in with the corporate sponsor. Mendenhall, who probably flunked physics and science in high school, tweeted:
“…I just have a hard time believing a plane could take a skyscraper down demolition style.”
The Steelers front office was quick to respond to Mendenhall’s tweets, saying “…it is hard to explain or even comprehend what he meant with his recent Twitter comments.”
Champion soon followed with a statement, saying they were “ending our business relationship” with Mendenhall since the athletic brand doesn’t think he “can appropriately represent Champion.”
Naturally, black people everywhere cried racism — and they would have had a point if Mendenhall had just left out the part about September 11.
But the fact is, he gave his ill-informed opinion on a touchy subject involving the deaths of nearly 3,000 Americans — and that’s what sealed his fate.
Corporate sponsors will turn a deaf ear to certain personal opinions expressed by their spokespersons, but they won’t tolerate stupidity, bad judgment, or a stunning lack of sensitivity.
