Michelle Obama and Daughters Land in South Africa

Tuesday, June 21, 2011

The two daughters of U.S. President Barack Obama landed in Africa with their mom, first lady Michelle Obama earlier today. Obama’s beautiful daughters, Malia and Sasha, looked worn and exhausted after their long transatlantic flight from America. Feeling a little chilly in the night air, the girls draped themselves in South African flags.

Michelle Obama plans to meet with South African President Jacob Zuma’s wife Nompumelelo Ntuli-Zuma in Pretoria and visit the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Apartheid Museum in Johannesburg today. Then tomorrow she will deliver the keynote address to a Young African Women Leaders Forum in Soweto. She will also visit Botswana and Cape Town during her tour of Africa. Mr. Obama didn’t make the trip.

Those are blankets. I am southern African so I should know. The girls were given those blankets because it is winter in Southern Africa. And yes it is cold. Southern Africa is far from the equator and as you know the further away you are from the equator the colder your climate. It doesnt usually snow but south africa last year actually got a little bit of snow.
