I don’t feel I’m judging her in the sense that I think I’m better than her (my opinion on that would be far from objective).

But if she wants to continue to have an active role in their lives; especially after the adoption when the courts won’t be so deeply involved; I pretty much have to be a judge, a juror, and maybe even an executioner to make sure my kids will be safe physically and emotionally.

It’s really not something that I want to do but it is something that I have to do. I see it as a necessary part of my taking on this role of responsibility.
