Man dies after falling out of stands trying to catch ball; 8-year-old son left alone
A Texas Rangers fan died after falling about 20 feet from the stands, head first, while trying to catch a foul ball tossed to him by a player yesterday. The man’s 8-year-old son was left alone in the stands.
The Brownwood (Texas) Bulletin identified the man as Shannon Stone, a lieutenant in that town’s fire department and a fireman for 18 years.
The accident happened in the second inning after Oakland’s Conor Jackson hit a foul ball that bounced back onto the field, according to Yahoo Sports blog.
Stone lost his balance and tumbled over the outfield railing as he tried to catch the ball tossed to him by outfielder Josh Hamilton. Another fan tried to catch Stone but he was too late.
Athletics Reliever Brad Ziegler was in tears after the game when he found out the man died. “They had him on a stretcher. He said, ‘Please check on my son. My son was up there by himself.’ The people who carried him out reassured him. ‘Sir, we’ll get your son, we’ll make sure he’s OK,”‘ Ziegler said.
“A man goes to a ballgame with his son — it’s the ultimate American experience — and he dies trying to catch a ball,” wrote sportswriter David Brown on Yahoo sports blog.

Obama extends foreclosure time period for unemployed
The federal housing administration (FHA), under an initiative from the White House, will extend the time period when banks can foreclose on homes, according to AJC.com.
This comes as great news for the chronically unemployed whose homes are seized by banks after missing just a few mortgage payments.
Now unemployed homeowners can miss 12 payments instead of 4 before their homes are foreclosed upon.
“The current unemployment forbearance programs have mandatory periods that are inadequate for the majority of unemployed borrowers,” U.S. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Shaun Donovan said.
“Today, 60 percent of the unemployed have been out of work for more than three months and 45 percent have been out of work for more than six. Providing the option for a year of forbearance will give struggling homeowners a substantially greater chance of finding employment before they lose their home,” Donovan said.
All FHA-approved banks must participate, according to a Housing and Urban Development press release.
New Music: Monica – Anything To Find You, ft. Rick Ross and Lil Kim
Monica’s new song, “Anything To Find You,” featuring Rick Ross and Lil Kim, just leaked. The track was produced by Missy Elliott, who remixed Monica’s vocals with Biggie and Mary J Blige samples. Ross doesn’t have an original bone in his body, but Lil Kim sounds hawt! And, of course, Mo cannot be touched vocally.
My record label source tells me that this will not be an official single. Her new album drops later this Fall. What do you think of Mo’s maturing sound?

Miguel’s Sexuality Questioned in Parody of His Song “Sure Thing”
Singer Miguel lashed out at a radio station that aired a gay parody of his song, “Sure Thing” remixed with homophobic lyrics.
From Yourblackworld.com:
Wednesday morning, a major New York radio station called “The Breakfast Club” on 105.1 FM played a homophobic parody of Miguel’s song “Sure Thing.” NewsOne reports that the lyrics were changed from “You can bet that, you don’t have to sweat that” to “You can bet that, Miguel wants your butt crack,” followed by a voice saying “n*** you’re gay.” It is believed that this parody was created in part because of the recent questioning of Miguel’s sexuality due to his choice of dress.
NewsOne also reports that “the Human Rights Campaign, one of the top LGBT civil rights organizations in the country, released a statement to NewsOne condemning the radio station’s remarks [saying] there’s nothing humorous about homophobia.”
In response to numerous calls for him to step out of the closet, Miguel released a statement saying, “For anyone who questions my sexuality, the honest truth is I love women. I’ve always openly loved women.”
If Miguel says he’s not gay, I believe him. Why would he lie in 2011?

NFL player sues his ex for return of engagement ring that he mailed her
Dallas wide receiver Roy Williams is suing a former Miss Texas for the return of an expensive engagement ring that he sent her through the mail in February.
According to the Long Island Press, Williams shipped the $76,000 rock to Miss Texas 2009 Brooke Daniels, along with a recorded audio message and some cash. Daniels was Williams’ girlfriend at the time.
The audio message reportedly contained a proposal for marriage. Daniels politely declined, and Williams filed the lawsuit in June saying Daniels failed to return his ring.
According to Daniels’ father, Michael Daniels of Tomball, Texas, Williams told her she could keep the ring.
In court documents, Williams said he repeatedly asked Daniels to return the ring but Daniels told him that she lost it.
In an affidavit signed by Williams on June 30, he said he also gave Daniels $5,000 cash for school and to help with some dentist bills.
Daniels’ father said his daughter would give the ring back to avoid the legal hassle.
Celebs Out & About: Ciara, Mariah (first pics after her plastic surgery)
Pop singer Mariah Carey was seen entering her posh Manhattan apartment yesterday. It’s obvious that Mariah had some maxillofacial surgical work done — the question is why? There was nothing wrong with her face before. It was the first public sighting of the superstar since she delivered her twins, Moroccan and Monroe, in a California hospital on April 30.
My spies tell me that Mariah, 41, is still struggling to lose the belly fat after her tummy tuck surgery following the births of her babies. In addition to her strict, low calorie, no sugar diet, Mariah is also utilizing the services of a female personal trainer to whip her back into shape.
