Singer Tank fires Keyshia Cole’s former manager
Keyshia Cole’s former manager Manny Halley has lost another R&B client, according to my well-placed industry source.
Singer Tank, whose last album was 2010′s Now Or Never, fired Halley and Imani Entertainment citing “creative differences” with the way his career was being handled.
Tank, whose real name is Durrell Babbs, is telling friends that Manny (pictured at right with former client Keyshia) was a bit too disorganized for him. But the 35-year-old hasn’t had a top ten hit since forever.
This has not been Halley’s year since losing Keyshia Cole as a client and then seeing his LA Phillipe Chow restaurant franchise finances go into the red.
But Cole’s journey through managers hasn’t been an easy one either.
The “Calling All Hearts” singer hired industry veteran Ashley Fox of Ashley Fox Management to guide her through the separation from Imani Entertainment last year. Next, Keyshia dumped Ashley Fox for Über manager Chris Lighty. But that union only lasted for a month.
Then last week, Keyshia announced on her Twitter page that she was being managed by Kevin Liles, the former president of Def Jam, who also manages singer Trey Songz.
Manny is a friend to the blog. So we wish him well, and we know he will keep doing big things.

From watching the first season of Keyshia’s reality show, I never realized Manny was a “real” manager…I just thought he was a cousin or something that she done gave a job to. He just came across as unprofessional and all over the place…

Manny never seemed management material to me on the reality show. He like that guy from the neighborhood who knew a little about something and a lot about nothing. Hopefully Kevin Lyles can resurrect KeyCo career. I haven’t liked much since her first album.

Manny and Keyshia seemed pretty close on her reality show, but this was a business decision so I understand…Tank on the other hand, well his career hasn’t been thriving for a while so I definitely understand his decision also.

That’s entertainment. I like Tank. I didn’t know barry hankerson was no longer his manager until reading this post. When they switch managers like this, what are they looking for? A person with the best connections? Higher performance fees for shows? Can’t they manage themselves or at least go the route of boutique mgmt? I dont see the need for anyone to go all grand with their managers when the careers aren’t indicative of such.
Tank morning wood would be hot, but these dudes seldom show wood or even traces of it. Get me brick in the draws – I need more than a nice chest and pecs.

Dang didn’t know KC went thru all those managers. Manny seemed like he helped her Keyshia a lot. I wonder if she split from him because he got Frankie and Neffie that spin off show. I do remember that show made her mad because she wasn’t getting a cut.

I remember meeting Tank a few years ago, I didn’t even know who he was but my friend was a fan and his attitude was kinda stank
It made it so I could care less about ever buying an album or track of his. Hopefully things work out for all involved though
