Lawyers drop 3 of Bishop Eddie Long’s accusers

The big time lawyer for three of Bishop Eddie Long’s accusers has dropped her clients after they violated their confidentiality agreement in the sexual misconduct lawsuit.

BJ Bernstein dropped 3 of the 5 accusers because she said continuing to represent them was “a potential conflict of interest since Bishop Long’s attorneys have now filed a demand to recover damages in the case.”

According to Fox 5 News, Bishop Long’s attorneys filed a notification with the American Arbitration Association seeking to recover “not less than $900,000,” — $300,000 per violation by his accusers Jamal Paris, Spencer LaGrande and cross dresser Centino Kemp.

Sources tell Fox 5 News that Bishop Long’s attorneys are now demanding arbitration because the men “intentionally violated their settlement agreement in other media interviews and on Twitter.”

Paris and LaGrande recently sat down for several media interviews, while Kemp blasted Bishop Long in a series of “tweet” rants on his Twitter.com page two months ago.

According to Fox 5, Long’s lawyers argue that back in August Kemp tweeted “I got f***ed by the Devil Himself” and “I was literally your hooker.” In a separate tweet that he directed to @BishopEddieLong’s Twitter account, he wrote “why that’s all i want to no”

Long’s attorneys argue that they can recover “$300,000 per violation” and that there is “no cap” on the amount of damages they can recoup. The arbitration also puts future settlement payments at risk.

Earlier this year, sources told Sandrarose.com exclusively that Long’s accusers were dissatisfied with the terms of the structured settlement that they had agreed to.

They thought their $2 million settlements spread out over multiple years was a generous amount — until they started spending the cash and discovered that $100,000 doesn’t go a long way when you’re greedy and have extravagant tastes.

And folks felt sorry for these “victims”. I was always on the fence about these boys and their SUDDEN need to tell their stories. Basically when their sugar daddy kicked them to the curb they couldn’t go back to their normal lifestyles so they filed a civil suit (not an actual criminal suit) to get money from him.

I certainly think that Eddie was wrong but these boys weren’t in it to tell their story they just wanted MONEY! They’re greedy and judging from their actions they’re also a pack of idiots. Well this is going to get interesting. If the $$$ stop coming in then expect to see them on talk shows and in gossip magazines for compensation! When you deal with YOUNG, ADDICTIVE minds…anything is libel to happen. Some serious counseling should have been in the setlement as well.

This will never really go away until Mr. Long (I refuse to call him Bishop) steps down. If he really cared about his FAMILY and the CHURCH thats what he would have done STEP DOWN.

This whole situation is about money and its sad especially since its connected to a church. I know I’ve said it before on this post but I will say it again….THATS WHY I STAY OUT OF THE CHURCH!

I don’t think this situation would be any different if he stepped down. They’re greedy and obviously $2million wasn’t enough for them to move on with their lives and seek help to cope with what he did to them. No matter what he does they will always want more. These boys give me a very demented and evil vibe. There’s something I never trusted about them anyway.

And why do people always say “such and such is why I stay away from church” or “such and such is why I stopped going to church”. Every time you get in your car there’s a possibility that you could be killed because fatal car accidents happen everyday but that doesn’t stop you from driving?

You can’t judge all churches because of the actions of a few. There are many churches to chose from so I don’t see how the bad decisions of a few outnumber the ones who are helping their communities and leading people to Christ

Sounds like ole Eddie and his legal team are trying to set themselves up to profit off of whatever the fellas get for telling their story forever. I’m sure their lawyer talked them into accepting that sh*tty deal, but they knew the devil they were dealing with and they should have stuck to their guns. I bet BJ didn’t get her payment stretched out over 20 years. Gimme all my money now homes. Who knows what might happen in 20 years. Eddie and his shady mega church could go belly up. Where would they get the rest of their money from then? He could file bankruptcy and they be lumped in with the rest of the creditors and get nada. He made them that way when he was grooming and courting them. Yes, I was one who felt and feels sorry for them. If they were females and a male pastor started grooming them for a sexual relationship while they were minors and acted on it when they were of “legal” age but still teens all the same then more folks would be singing a different tune. I think its wrong either way and that is why Eddie didn’t throw not narry a rock of the 5 he was holding.

One of the victims said it wasn’t about the money they could burn the money they all need therapy and they shouldn’t have ever agreed not to talk knowing they wanted to and would eventually write a book. That is the only thing I feel they did wrong I would have had my settlement money AND the right to tell my story to the media/books

This entire situation is just…..SAD!!! I feel sorry for the victims as well as Long’s family. This has to be one of those situations you want to just go away. Unfortunately, it won’t until these “victims” are truly heard. Ultimately, I think that’s what this is about (money is only a small part of it). As a resident of Atlanta, if you knew the type of following Long has and how much his congregation believes this man didn’t do this or is above doing something so vulgar to these boys; you would understand why these men are so adamant to be heard. They say the truth will set you free. They want the truth, everything pertaining to this situation to come to light. If this was the case, they should’ve agreed to the hush money and perhaps write a tell-all book or something of that nature. Accepting the settlement and then running your mouth about it was the wrong move if you ask me. Whatever it is these victims are looking for, I pray they find it as well as seek treatment/counseling.

I have a feeling that Bishop still doesn’t want the tea leaked… He’ll prob let them keep the money as long as they stop talking … this is a power move… I also think they have some leverage… I’m sure they have tea on more than just the Bishop… but they have to put all the drama down… it’s going to get them nowhere fast! I know this is going to go against the grain of these men are greedy….BUT why should these men have to keep quiet? Why do we as a society give people who violate children a pass and allow them pay for the silence of victims!! That silence allows that perpetrator to continue on his path of exploiting others. Is it possible that, that silence Eddie Long paid for is part of the cycle that allows this story to be told again and again in our society; only difference being the parties and the circumstances. Is the money that they were paid going to make the hurt, shame, humiliation, and sense of betrayal and abandonment go away,and make them whole again? Stop focusing on money and start focusing on the big picture of what this man has done, and who he actually is in our society….

This is not a misguided rant, but a rant against the perception of those who believe that money and power give those who have it the right to violate others, and dictate to them how they process their healing.

Hmmmm… I could never defend/side with or stand up for Eddie Long on no level for what he did, but he ain’t wrong for asking for his money back. They violated the terms of their agreement which was complete non-disclosure – plain and simple. If they write a book I don’t want to know anything about it.

I think that these men are hurt and no amount of money will solve that. I think that they didnt think things through before they made that settlement agreement. I know that it has to be hurting them to keep quite while Long still preaches and acts as nothing is wrong. i honestly think a publisher or two approached these dudes post-settlement and offered to do the book. they say, we can’t do it because we’ve agreed not to. the publisher’s lawyers review the settlement and tell the publisher that they boys can talk but would forfeit their settlement money. publisher comes back and says we will pay you double/triple what you got in this settlement, including an advance for any money you’ve already received so that you can pay it back.

bj is pretty thorough. i know she explained the consequences and settlement to them. they’re just going for more money. PLUS they wanted him to step down and he didn’t agree to that as a part of the settlement. so, this is their way of sticking it to him, no pun intended.
