Morning Wood: Joakim Noah

Chicago Bulls star Joakim Noah, 26, was spotted splashing in the surf on Miami Beach yesterday. Unlike some of the league’s bench players — such as Matt Barnes of the Lakers — the NBA lockout isn’t hurting Noah financially. As you know, Noah is the son of tennis great Yannick Noah.

    The players aren’t on strike, the owners locked them out. The owners want to take back monies that they agreed to pay. It’s basically a microcosm of what’s been going on in our country with rich employers breaking unions to horde money.
    Yeah, the players make insane amounts of money to play a game, but the owners are the ones that offered the contracts. If an owner offered me 50 million I’d sign that contract while it was still printing. I’m sure you would too.
    The owners are supposed to be these intelligent business men that know how to run companies yet they are using this lockout to correct bad deals that they negotiated for.
    Them Wall st folks are supposed to be the smart guys as well, but they fvcked up royally and still got paid and their salaries/bonuses/severance packages would put athletes’ salary to shame.
