Michael Ealy Discusses Starting a Family, Joining Twitter

Actor Michael Ealy spoke exclusively with Loop 21 about his plans for starting a family, and eventually joining the wildly popular social network, Twitter.com.

Ealy, who recently wrapped shooting the comedy flick, “Think Like a Man,” says he’s tired of people creating Twitter and Facebook pages that he doesn’t run.

The 38-year-old ‘Barbershop’ star also said he wants to wait until he can have all of his children with one submissive woman rather than spreading his seed in multiple industry sluts like other irresponsible stars have done.

Loop 21: You said that growing up you had a mother like Claire Huxtable, yet a lot of people don’t think the ‘Cosby Show’ ideal can exist. Is that how you’d like your household to run?

Michael Ealy: I would love to have a complete family. I’d love to do it all at once. I‘d love to be able to give to my children what my parents were able to give to me. And if I’m blessed to be able to do that, fantastic. If I’m not, then life goes on. You have to do the best you can. There’s plenty of people out there doing the best they can every day. Some people are okay with it, and some people are like no, this is how it’s supposed to be. I do think we have to bring the family back; I do.

Drake’s dad encouraged him to use that “beautiful voice” (video)

Why is it that certain men only come around when their sons hit the big time? Canadian rapper Aubrey “Drake” Graham’s dad, Dennis Graham, used to be a drummer for Jerry Lee Lewis. But now Drake is a big star in his own right. And now Drake has trust issues with women because his dad wasn’t around during his formative years (between 2 and 6).

“They love your son — man, that boy gone,” Drake sings forlornly in his track “Look What You’ve Done” off his 2nd studio album, Take Care.

Boys need a father figure in their lives while they’re young — not when they’re grown with bank accounts of their own.

The money and the fame only makes Drake’s trust issues deepen. He can afford to fly women into town to remind him that he’s not his dad. Then he flies them back out quickly so he can bond with his boys, who he thinks can provide the love that he’s missing.

And Drizzy got the money, so Drizzy gon’ pay it
    Those my brothers
I ain’t even gotta say it
    That’s just something they know

Drake’s dad, oblivious to his failings in his son’s life, is embracing his newfound fame with gusto. In a recent interview, Dennis, aka Papa Drake, says he encouraged his son to not only rap but to use “that beautiful voice” to sing.

Maybe that helps explain why the caged rapper sings?

Obama Kissing World Leaders

What? Would you rather have U.S. President Barack Obama bending over or kissing world leaders when greeting them?

You’ve already seen the furor it causes whenever he bows down. So the bowing is out. But there’s nothing wrong with a little peck on the lips — as long as his lips are closed.

Actually, the above images of Obama kissing Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, and Chinese President Hu Jintaoare, are part of Benetton’s newest controversial ad campaign, according to the Washington Post:

“It means not hating,” Alessandro Benetton, deputy chairman of Benetton Group and son of the founder of the family company told the Wall Street Journal. “In a moment of darkness, with the financial crisis, what’s going on in North African countries, in Athens, this is an attitude we can all embrace that can have positive energy.”

Skepticism abounds, though — the company’s sales have been dragging, and some are speculating that the ad campaign might just be a way of jolting consumers into remembering the Benetton name. The campaign is the first part of a three-step plan to revive the Benetton brand. According to the WSJ, the brand is also rethinking its clothing lines.

Did Twitter Beef Lead to Shooting Death of Atlanta Man?

Police are investigating whether online “Twitter beef” led to the shooting death of a popular 25-year-old man at a Southwest Atlanta apartment complex early Sunday morning.

According to the Atlanta Journal, Kevin James Scott, 25, was shot twice in the chest by an unknown assailant and left to die in a 4th floor hallway of the City View apartments in Mechanicsville. Police responded to a 911 call at 259 Richardson Street around 3 a.m.

Scott was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he later died.

Scott was affectionately known as “Big Kevin” to his many friends and family. His brother, “Westside Chris”, is a well-known businessman and close associate of superstar rapper Jeezy.

Within hours of the shooting, friends of Scott took to the social networking site Twitter.com to tweet their condolences and to rage at the senseless violence.

His friends say Scott and a local man argued back and forth on Twitter.com just hours before his death. At one point, Scott tweeted code words revealing his location, and he seemed to taunt the man who later deleted his Twitter page.

A remembrance event will be held for Scott on Friday, Nov. 18, at Cream Bar & Bistro at 1919 B Metropolitan Parkway in Atlanta, according to club promoter Tracye Bryant of KBD Entertainment. Also, a candlelight vigil will be held in his honor tomorrow night (Thursday, Nov. 16) at Mays high school.

Anyone with information about the killing is asked to contact APD at 404-546-4235 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477.
