Rihanna’s ‘Talk That Talk’ On Pace to Sell 200K

It looks like Rihanna’s latest studio effort is on its way to tanking big time. Compared to Drake’s 1st week sales of 659K for his 2nd album, Take Care, RiRi’s Talk That Talk is only expected to sell 180-200K in the first week.

That has to be a major disappointment for the Bajan superstar who has over 9 million followers on Twitter.com.

According to HITS Daily Double, the pop princess’ latest Talk That Talk, featuring the chart-topping single “We Found Love,” is on track to sell 180-200,000 copies in its first week based on early estimates. Her previous effort LOUD opened with 207,000 in November 2010.

Mary J. Blige will also return to the charts with My Life II… The Journey Continues (Act I). The sequel to her 1994 classic My Life is poised to move 120-140,000 units in week one. The R&B veteran’s 2009 album Stronger withEach Tear debuted at No. 2 with 332,000. Source

‘The Strange Thing About the Johnsons’ (Video)

Yesterday, one of my loyal readers, EB, posted a link to a short film titled ‘The Strange Thing About the Johnsons’.

At first I wasn’t going to post the film because the subject matter is so disturbing that it might cause mental anguish in some of my readers. But after speaking with a friend last night, I decided to post this film and use it as a teachable moment.

Without giving away too much of the plot (for those of you who want to see it), let’s just say that this film can only be categorized as a “dark comedy” because it is laughable.

There is a good reason why we can only access 10% of our brain power. The brain has many defense mechanisms in place to protect itself (and you) from the type of activity that is depicted in this film.

The young man in this film would have to circumvent those defense mechanisms in his brain to be able to do what he does. And as a result, he would be psychologically disturbed. It would not be a secret to anyone around him that he was psychotic.

The scene where the young man appears to be a normal, healthy adult about to get married would never happen in real life.

This is the reason why men like Usher Raymond, who are stuck in the Oedipus complex phase, seek out older women for sexual gratification — because the alternative would be psychological harmful.

So as you watch this film, take it for what it is: a comedy that sprang from the overactive imagination of a man (the director) who has a limited understanding of how the brain works.

Man Commits Suicide Hours After Marrying High School Sweetheart

A 28-year-old Bronx man who felt pressured by his high school sweetheart into marrying her, took his own life hours after the wedding.

Fernando Brazier left a suicide note at the front desk of the Radisson Hotel in New Rochelle, New York, where he married 26-year-old Trudian Hay the day before. His wedding ring was inside the envelope, according to Mr. Brazier’s sister Shawna Weeks.

“He said he couldn’t take anymore, and to take care of his kids,” she told the NY Post.

Police recovered Brazier’s body at the bottom of the Harlem River — where his suicide note indicated he would be.

Police say he jumped either from a building or the promenade behind it. No foul play is suspected.

Brazier and Hay met in high school. They had two daughters together. Brazier, whose parents were divorced, wanted a stable home for his daughters.

Family members said Brazier suffered from depression in the months leading up to the wedding.

“He would tell me that Trudy was a good person [but] he didn’t want to marry her; he was feeling like he was pressured,” Ms. Weeks told the NY Post.

Brazier was last seen leaving the Radisson Hotel around 9 a.m. on Sunday. Hotel staff saw him climb into a taxi after leaving the note. Family members said Brazier did not seem distressed during the wedding reception on Saturday.
