Afternoon Delight: Gabrielle Union
Actress Gabrielle Union, 39, showed off her gorgeous bod on Miami Beach in Miami, Florida today. Gabby is transitioning into her role as mom to boyfriend Dwyane Wade’s two sons, Zaire Blessing Dwyane Wade, 9, (not pictured) and Zion Malachi Airamis Wade, 4. The children seem to genuinely love her.
Union and Wade have been an item for 5 years. Gabby faithfully stood by her man’s side as he fought a bitter, public child custody battle with his ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches. The couple divorced in 2007.
Union is no stranger to dysfunctional marriages. She was married to Chris Howard for 5 years. Their marriage ended in divorce in 2006.

Philadelphia police are trying to track down the mother of a newborn baby found abandoned inside a cardboard box Wednesday morning. The discovery was made by a man doing some clean up near 27th and Huntingdon streets, in North Philadelphia. FOX 29?s Bruce Gordon reported live from outside the police department’s Special Victims Unit that the newborn was transported to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children and is in good condition.
The baby girl has no obvious injuries or ailments, despite spending perhaps a couple of hours out in the elements. In this story, as in so many, timing was everything. Robert Taylor and his partner were cleaning up along North 27th Street around 10 a.m. when they noticed a cardboard box on the sidewalk. Trash collection was a day away, so Robert suggested they leave the box for pick up.
“And I ‘m saying, ‘Just put it with the rest of the trash and everything for tomorrow.’ It makes me feel as if I’m getting ready to dispose of a complete human body. It makes me feel just completely empty,” Taylor said. Taylor’s partner moved the box and received a stunning surprise. “He heard some noises, some crying inside. He eventually opened it up and found that there was a very newborn infant inside that box,” said SVU Lt. Anthony McFadden.
The little girl was just hours old and under 5.5 pounds, with the umbilical cord still attached. She’s believed to be Hispanic or perhaps a light-skinned African-American. Late this afternoon, police showed off what she’d been wrapped in: a sweater, a towel, a blanket and a bathrobe. Despite being outside for much of the morning, police say the infant is in good condition.
McFadden called it, “very lucky,” adding, “I mean, the conditions of the day, today, it’s cold out, dreary, wet.” The baby was discarded just outside a daycare center and just down the block from a church. Bank of America Corp. agreed to pay a record $335 million to resolve a government claim that its Countrywide Financial unit discriminated against minority home buyers during the frenzied days of the mortgage boom.
The Justice Department alleged that Countrywide charged higher interest rates and fees to African American and Latino home buyers than to white applicants with similar income levels and credit scores. It marks the largest residential fair-lending settlement in history.
California, one of the worst-hit states when the housing market buckled, was considered by investigators to be the epicenter for the alleged abuses by Countrywide. In one example given in the Justice Department’s report, an African American in Los Angeles who borrowed $200,000 in 2007 paid an average of $1,200 more in fees than a comparable white customer.
“Chances are the victims had no idea whatsoever they were being victimized. They were thrilled to have gotten the loan and realized the American Dream,” said Thomas E. Perez, head of the Justice Department’s civil rights division. “They had no idea they could have and should have gotten a better deal. This is discrimination with a smile.”
The $335 million will be distributed to more than 200,000 victims, nearly one-third of them from California, who took out home loans from Countrywide between 2004 and 2008.
A Bank of America spokesman said the alleged abuses occurred before the company bought Countrywide at the peak of the financial crisis in 2008.
“We reached this settlement to resolve issues about Countrywide’s alleged historic practices that occurred before Bank of America acquired the company,” spokesman Dan Frahm said in a statement. “Bank of America’s practices are not at issue.”
