In Case You Missed It: T.I. & Tiny: Family Hustle, Ep 3
Episode 3 belonged to T.I.’s 7-year-old son, King, who has the sense enough to realize that he’s not black (he is a mix of both races). T.I. took the family out to dinner and had a chat with King who thinks he’s white because he’s light-skinned. A blond fan interrupts the conservation to give T.I. one of her CDs.
After she walks away, T.I. resumes the conversation. But King, who was taken by the fan’s alabaster skin, says quickly, “I know I’m black, but can I have a white woman?” T.I. laughed and responded “Yes, you can have a white woman. You can have any color woman you want!”
T.I. also had a touching father/daughter moment with 14-year-old Zonnique Pullins, his wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris’ daughter by a previous relationship. But there seemed to be some tension between T.I. and “Nique Nique” that was palpable through the TV screen. The teenager’s body language spoke volumes. I had a conversation with Nique on the phone last year about photography (she’s a pretty good photographer). Nique made it a point to bring up her relationship with her biological dad — and how close they are. It was clear that she had read one of my posts and saw where I made mention that T.I. was her dad. So maybe that’s the source of the tension? I could be wrong, since I almost always am.
T.I. traveled to Augusta to watch the OMG Girlz perform during the Scream Tour with the group Mindless Behavior.
T.I. made reference to the government taking away his guns after finding out that Zonnique is talking to boys.

I didn’t see any tension w/T.I. & Zonnique. I mean, she acted like a typical teenager. What was she suppose to do?? JUMP IN HIS LAP? I mean, if it would’ve been any more touching, the post would’ve been written differently. I saw how she looked sad when he said he may not be able to make it. Those were the signs of a teenager who loves her step-father and is simply…..JUST A TEENAGER!

I don’t think it is tension. I also think that Zonnique is older so she is much more aware than the little guys are. You see how upset Domani was that Tip wasn’t coming to the game, that’s how it is with Zonnique. Her dad (been here life since she was 4/5 that’s her dad) has been gone much of the past two years of her life, it is hard adjustment.

I know right! You can see that they have this connection, and this bond. They truly love each other. I can’t even say anything negative about that. He a freak, and so is she. He silly as heyul and so is she. They mesh well together.

My son has asked if he was white also he’s 5, His father and I are brown but far from light skinned, but he is high yellow with light brown hair. He goes to school with mostly white kids, and his name is Jhonathan. His brother’s name is Jhonte’ and my name is Myisha,so as ghetto as our names are he’s always says I look white and I have a white name. SMH I had to tell him that he is black. Kids just don’t know.
I like the show…I have started to semi like T.I…just when I say he’s an alright guy he says some ish that’c unnecessary!

Sandra if every black person with mixed blood described themselves as bi racial there wouldn’t be any black people in this country. Black folks in this country have been mixed and diluted to the point that we are all biracial but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider yourself black. In my personal opinion if you’re less than a 50/50 split there’s no sense in describing yourself as mixed, include your other races if you feel so inspired but acknowledge that you are black for better or worse.
But anyway, I’ve had issues with a child who thought she was white and simply explained to her that the beauty of being a black person is that we come in all shades, sizes, and hair colors but that doesn’t make her any less black and that her color is nothing to be ashamed or extra proud of. I also pointed out the people in her family who are different shades of brown than she is and explained how all of us are beautiful black women despite what color we are. She got the point

I have a friend-white-who has two kids. At school she listed their race as black but she said they always list her son as white and her daughter as black. they are both creamy but the daughter had semi kinky hair and the sons hair is straight
My favorite part is when he was talking to zonnique. He reminds me of my baby girls dad. He is strongly in all my kids life. He has a girlfriend and her azz is right there too. My sons graduation was so blended. All the girlfriends kids came along with my ex husband and his wife nd kids. you cant tell that negro all my kids arent his.

Tainted I understand where you’re coming from. I actually get annoyed when people attempt to be politically correct and call me African-American and will correct them and say no I’m black. I also get mistaken for being mixed and/or other races and nationalities (why I do not know but it annoys me) and will quickly put someone in their place for that ish too. I’m a proud black woman… not African-American, not mixed, not biracial, not part Indian, not 3/25 white, not Haitian, not Mexican, but black. Although I will say that the mistaking me for other races occurred more in California than anywhere else and I think that’s because blacks in CA are more likely to describe themselves as mixed race even if it’s one white grandma 6 generations back. My mixtures are actually much closer than that but I still don’t claim them unless I’m doing a thesis on my genetic background… and that doesn’t happen too often

So I watched this show for the first time last night (since I was up in the middle of the night and it was on).
I like T.I. always have despite his mistakes however………..on this show he comes off so unauthentic. As if he is acting for the cameras. I’m sure on some level he has these interactions with his family. It all just seems forced.

I found it odd as well. But let’s face it, Taylor Swift represents mainstream America = right stuff.

I think the one drop rule proves that black trumps everything….when mixing paint if you mix a drop of black in to white the paint becomes visibly darker but if you place a tad bit of white into black it will be hardly noticeable. Our genes are extremely strong!&&its nothing to be ashamed about it!!

my grandmother is literally the shade of a typical white woman, she is not high yellow, red bone, etc. her hair is curly. it’s that type of curly you can wash, wrap, and it’ll dry bone straight (she is mixed). my grandfather is my complexion (see my avatar). all of my aunts and uncles are different shades of black. some could say they are mixed and others look full black.
