When I die,.. I want to be sent off by a black church. I go to an all white conservative church, and they don’t do none of this!…

While riding in the car with my mother, a Whitney Houston song came on the radio. She stated, ” I think that everything that happened in the last days of her life was God’s plan. Think about it. The last song she sang was ‘Jesus Loves Me’. They found her submerged under water, like God was washing away all of her sins. Now come on Home. Even if you have to take a few pills to get here. You are clean now, so come on Home.” It made me look at the situation in a different light, which made perfect sense. Just thought that I would share that.

Folks (YT) are losing their minds over it being called a Home Going. A celebration of her life. Its been discussed endlessly. They are about to see the Black church exposed. I pray for Bobbi Kristina and Cissy Houston today. TMZ is reporting that the family wants Bobbi Kris to go into rehab but are waiting to get pass the service. She is so young, it’s heartbreaking. God bless her and hold her.

I like how the family is putting her away in a traditional Black Baptist fashion. Someone going to start shouting in a minute. My church hand has gone up a couple of times saying “thank you Jesus” to the music and the pastor speaking.

I just want to know what’s going on with Jesse Jackson. The way he’s looking at Donnie and Tyler is just crazy. He sat with his arms crossed and was the only one not clapping for Donnie. I thought they had animosity until I saw the way he was looking at Tyler too and biting on his glasses.

I’m glad that Tyler showed how she was and that she was alright with God. It means a lot to a family to know that their loved one kept God in their heart and shared the word whenever they could.

Bebe Winans’ story was funny. I like when funerals have people who can tell funny stories about the person when they were here. Focuses more on REALLY celebrating the love, life and laughter of that person than that they are gone.

I read some of those TMZ folks. White folks can be so fukking close-minded. Concentrating on the flashing marquee outside of the church with “Whitney Houston’s Homegoing.” That marquee wasn’t just put there today! A LOT of Black churches have flashing marquees that announce the day’s events!

    Get a life!!

The Bodyguard will be on Lifetime tonight 8pm on westcoast…I must watch it, must! I was so proud of her, went into it scared that she would not be good at acting, then watching it, I cried she was perfection. What a day y’all..still can’t believe we are doing this today. So pleased her family handled this, they shut down New Jersey doing more. This is a service for them as well as Whitney.

Yeah, Bobby left but if he was going to leave, he should’ve took Jesse’s sinister looking azz with him!

Sandra- I want a Narcissistic Personality Disorder post on Jesse “Lil Wayne’s Family Mentor” Jackson immediate following this post!!!

Also…Alicia Keys last few runs were paiiinnfffuuuulll. She’s out of breath.

I’m so proud of this ceremony today . For the first time in a long time I have my tv tuned to BET because I know they will focus on the beauty of Whitney and they understand a true soul homecoming.

I won’t even give Jesse the attention he is so obviously craving, but I’ll say there’s at least one at every service, so he’s right at home.

I will continue to pray for all who loved Whitney and hope they will see her death as an opportunity to carry her with them at all times for all time.

  50. 50
    Henny Blaque says:

    Amen! Speak on it Ray!

  51. 51
    AndThenIHitMyDougie says:

I hope this tragedy will be wake up call for Bobbi Kris if no one else. Maybe Whit had to leave so she could do a better job of watching over her child. There are no mistakes when it comes to God calling folks home, but as survivors we always struggle to find the sense in it.

 Stevie, Kim, BeBe/CeCe… Woo Chile! The TRUTH!

  63. 63
    Terri B says:

Now this is a funeral! I like how they have people speaking on her behalf that actually “KNEW” her personally and not just “know of her”. The focus is on Whitney and not on who they can bring in to get good ratings and coverage.

  64. 64
    Traigo Fuego says:

I’m not an Alicia fan (but i respect her) but I think she did well under the circumstances. You can tell she was real emotional. She was caught up… She couldn’t even speak when she first sat and took the mic. And hate me if you want but she sounded as comparable to Stevie’s “Ribbon in the Sky”… (Stevie killed the 2nd song)

    … Just sayin’.

  65. 65
    Henny Blaque says:

    I know thats right!

  66. 66
    caligirl says:

  67. 67
    AndThenIHitMyDougie says:

    R Kelley is killing it.

  74. 74

  90. 90
    AndThenIHitMyDougie says:

    @Sandra

He said (paraphrasing) “the criticisms and feelings of doubt that comes with celebrity is a tree that we could all hang from.”

I understood what he was saying. It wasn’t racist or inappropriate in any way.

But when he said “damn” – the audience almost gasped.

  91. 91
    ShoYaRight says:

Yea I heard it Sandy…I think it’s a “saying” but yeah, maybe not the best choice of words in a black church.

  92. 92
    AndThenIHitMyDougie says:

Rickey got it in with Nippy a long time ago, you cant tell me he didn’t. He really admired her, and you can tell by how he speaks of her.

And if you can love her with that big azz bow (I always hated that), he LOVED Nippy, hear?

  93. 93

Can they usher jesse Jackson’s ass off the stage. Alpha-retta. Uh huh. In honor of Whitney. Folks had a fit about that. I dont find anything wrong with honoring a person, a civilian, that way. I truly believe that.

  121. 121

The only time Jesse done smiled or acted like he gave a damn today is when Cece was standing in front of him and he was looking at her azz smiling like he just hit lotto.

Bobby’s 9 person entourage was his family. CNN even had the cameras on them when they were waiting outside, and they waited for a long time. His children are Bobbi Kristina’s siblings. They should be allowed to mourn Whitney. She was in their life for a long time as their step-mother. Bobby’s fiance should be with him also. Are people craz??. All this hate in their hearts for this man that has never done anything to them. Whitney was at Bobby’s mother funeral last year. I’m pretty sure she would have wanted him and his children at hers. Hell a week before she died she, Bobby and Bobbi Kristina had lunch together and were smiling and laughing. The pictures are all over the inertnet. Some of you’ll need to get a grip.

They said he took it well and he wasn’t acting crazy. They said he was told where he was seated was for family only. Cissy and Bobbi Kristina did not see what happened with Bobby.

To the other poster who said his children shouldn’t be there. What kind of sense does that make. There are people sitting up in that funeral that don’t even know Whitney. So children that spent a large part of their life with her can’t see her off, but those strangers can. Boy I i’ll you Common sense is no that common.

Apparently, the Houston family felt the same, that’s why he left. :shrugs: I do get that they’re her family as is he, but you don’t bring 8 extra people to a church that could barely accommodate 300 people, IMO

In a statement put out by his representative, he explained, “My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions.

“I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move,” he said. “Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. I doubt Whitney would have wanted this to occur. I will continue to pay my respects to my ex-wife the best way I know how.”

Aight, I done got up and brushed my teeth, put my contacts in, washed my azz and ate a bagel. I was supposed to be washing my hair today but I have decided to put that off maybe until tomorrow so that I can give Jesse Jackson my FULL, UNDIVIDED ATTENTION.

Sandra- how long before my post is up?

    Thanks Rockstar…That makes no sense.

Whitney, God Bless her sould, is no longer here. For her *family* to act up on this day made no sense. When folks do wrong I was taught to turn the other cheek and treat folks like I want to be treated. I guess some Christians have different values.

Man…I tried to have proper perspective…

But when they played “I will always love you” and lifted her casket…man, did that perspective leave…crying started…and I mean, crying about EVERYBODY I have lost in my life…and then BET ramped it up with her singing “Home” at the beginning of her career…

    Lord…Have mercy….

The pics of Bobby earlier before he went into the service was with him, his two older sons and his daughter. One of the sons was very emotional and crying and Bobby was comforting him.

Like others have said, Bobby should have been in that church.

HOWEVER, if Bobby’s 4 other kids were not welcome inside the church, I can respect his wishes to not leave them outside standing alone.

Well let me ask this does Bobbie Kristina have or want a relationship with her dad? Just curious after watching that Oprah interviwew she had with Whit in 09, it didnt sound like they had one then.

Anyone know if they repaired it?

  275. 275
    Hershey says:

    I think they have Henny

  276. 276
    caligirl says:

Shoyaright – I agree..I don’t like when folks start cutting up at church, but funerals and weddings bring out the worst in people.

@Hershey I still  you….but you know goodness well Bobbie didn’t divorce his daughter. :ghost:

  277. 277
    AndThenIHitMyDougie says:

I do agree that if he was told not to, then Bobby should not have bought extra folks.

HOWEVER, security knew FULL well who Bobby was and what he was to Nippy. He shouldv’e been allowed to stay!

I can appreciate that he left rather than create a scene, that’s what a gentleman would do because the day wasn’t about him and he knows that.

I feel bad for Bobby. He’s been villified for years as the person who hooked Whit on drugs although Whitney has said HERSELF for years, that she was doing blow way before she met Bobby. And various folks who have BEEN known Whitney before Bobby did have always said the same thing. Yet and still, folks will always blame Bobby for getting her hooked when in actuality, it was the other way around. And even at her damn homegoing, he’s being villified for leaving rather than creating a scene.

He can’t win. Poor Bobby. I hope that just as Whitney is now free, he is as well. And there is video of the debacle, he never yelled, cursed or anything. So I dunno where folks get that from. Bobby shouldve been allowed to stay. Entourage or not.

  278. 278
    Henny Blaque says:

I keep forgetting Bobby had other kids and they most likely had a close relationship with Whitney. They shouldve been included true.

  279. 279

it has to be more to the bobby story… what is bobbi kris relationship like with her dad? it cant be THAT good if all this transpired. i know i would want my daddy right by my side and would see no reason why my step sibling couldnt be seated in the pews….

  280. 280
    Henny Blaque says:

Too many conflicting reports going around.

  281. 281
    AndThenIHitMyDougie says:

And folks cannot say his kids should not have been there cause Whitney was a major and LONG part of their lives. They’ve said so. Whitney said so. There are plenty of pics with Whitney, Bobby, BK AND Bobby’s other kids.

They had more of a right to be there than Jesse Jackson and some other folks. They DID know her INTIMATELY. And for Whitney to be as giving and caring of a person as she was and then to have them turn away folks like that at her funeral, I KNOW she wouldn’t have wanted that.

Its a shame. Security needs to fall the fukk back sometimes. It’s a funeral, not a club appearance.

    Hershey says:

@ Cali I will always  you, no pun intended boo, we just have a difference of opinion is all, shyt me, you and rock, on different playing fields.

Bobbys other kids were on their reality show so I know there was love there. I think the family bullied Bobby today, and he didn’t handle it well at all. I would have moved, not out but around.

  283. 283
    Henny Blaque says:

@Spongebob, thats what I was wondering and surely her family would respect her wishes if she wanted her dad there.

In that 2009 interview Whit was saying Bobbi expressed to her being upset at him for promising to come see her and never showed up, promising to bring her things but never brought them.

  284. 284
    Hershey says:

Whatever Bobby’s current relationship with his daughter, I think it’s about to take a major change because the Houston’s are about to form a caravan around her and block him out. I can’t believe they would block him from speaking to her at the service, shameful.

  285. 285
    Hershey says:

Dougie, do you think security had orders to do that? Because why would they do it on their own? :shrugs: seem like maybe they had instructions

  286. 286
    AndThenIHitMyDougie says:

    @Hershey

I think they’ll try but if BK wants a relationship with Bobby, she’ll have one. I’m sure all of Whitney’s estate is left to BK and she is over 18 now. It’s honestly not a lot that folks will be able to stop her from doing if she wants to. She IS Whitney now when it comes to all things involving or concerning the legacy/estate and wants of Whitney so….

ain’t no caravan finna be able to do much.

  287. 287
    caligirl says:

@Hershey – That’s all I was saying, you don’t act up at the funeral. I really found it hard to beleive that he rolled up with Ronnie, Mike Rickey and Johnny. He seems to be a changed man. If things went down like the Al and Jesse said and confirmed by PR. THAT WAS SHAMEFUL

  288. 288
    Lala11_7 says:

I understand why Bobby left…what’s the alternative? Act a damn fool? And I KNOW he wanted to go there REAL BAD!!! It’s gotta be hard being the “Boogeyman” in a situation where that’s not really warranted…he came…paid his respects…comforted his daughter…and went out and comforted his other children…one of the things that made me REALLY like Whit after she stopped doing music…was she took in ALL of Bobby’s children…

  289. 289
    Henny Blaque says:

 Maybe Jesse was mad over the Bobby situation

  290. 290
    Lala11_7 says:

Bobby just released a statement on ABC.com and said security asked him and his kids to move THREE TIMES…then security wouldn’t let him talk to his daughter…

    So…he did the right thing…

  291. 291
    Henny Blaque says:

Ok CNN just said Bobby Browns written statement is he didnt appreciate being asked to move 3 times and security prevented him from seeing his daughter so he left rather than cause a scene.

    WHICH IS IT!

  292. 292
    Lyssa02 says:

I think, if the funeral was invite only, Bobby should have contacted the family and said “I’m gon bring my kids with me” and I think all of this could have been avoided.

I can feel his pain though cause that had to be rough to be told to move three times and go through all of that. I wish it could’ve been love and peace flowing from everyone to each other during this time :(

Bobby’s relationship with Whitney was on stable ground. There are pictures posted showing him, Whitney and their daughter having lunch together a few days before she passed. Bobbi Kristina loves her father and spoke in interviews about the love she has for him. She goes to his concerts too. I know that first hand, because she sat a few seats away from me with her siblings at a show.

The service was great and I wish this incident did not have to happen. I’m glad people came to his defense. He has to have a firm back for his daughter and his other children as well.

They keep saying New Edition was there, but I didn’t see them anywhere.

  294. 294

Why did he have to move 3 times, what was the reasoning behind it? I thought the ushers were the ones doing the seating in the first place.

@ Hershey, well then I can understand it then, it’s not that they were necessarily going after him but if he insisted on sitting with everyone that he brought, then they are going to give priority to those who were invited I guess.

I really think people need to stop vilifying Bobby though. They way people are attacking him is ridiculous!

One News Source says Bobby was given an invitation for himself and two others (LaPrincia / Bobby Jr.). He showed up with 9 people.

Also, it states that there was an empty seat next to Bobbi Kristina for all of the service. Implying that the seat was for Bobby Brown.

Maybe he was moved around to accomodate his party? The part where he was not allowed to speak to his daughter may have more to it….

  309. 309

:stop: those nine peeps was his kids, and the uncle on that old show of theirs, they all had a relationship wit witney, more than half that had a seat in there ! just awful, and frankly I am ashamed of those christians on there high horse

@jeniefrumdabloc: I googled… Bobby Brown had 5 children. This includes Bobbi Kristina, and the youngest one.

This would mean that Bobby Brown to show up with 3 children would be okay. This is still different than 9.

I can only restate what is all over the news. It would seem that the family would provide an invitation for Bobby Brown + 3.

It seems strange that they would leave off one of the older siblings.

The other family members you mention IMO it is her family’s choice whether they come or not. Small church…

Yea I wonder if there is more to the story as well. I don’t see why she couldn’t have showed up sat down and sang then left right after to rest. I wonder if she expected to be paid….seems strange that she wouldn’t sing at her “beloved” goddaughters home going, but would perform the same night for a concert. It’s not that long of a distance to travel by the way.

    This is absolutely gutwrenching.

As Whitney Houston’s casket was carried out of the funeral mass for the iconic singer, all while her classic I Will Always Love You played, a clearly distraught Ray J was caught breaking down as he said his last good-bye.

His sister Brandy can be seen rubbing his back in support.

    Watch (below).

    Poor things.

Miss Cissy shared a story within the obituary that was beautiful.

She shared (paraphrase) that within minutes before the phone call telling her Whitney was gone, her doorbell rang, she went to get it, no one was there.
It rang again, with more urgency, and she went back to get it, and again, no one was there.
Then her phone rang, and it was that call telling her that Whitney was gone.

I truly believe that it was Whitney in spirit, letting her mother know that she was okay.

I am so proud of how Whitney’s homegoing was handled. Like Pastor said, Miss Cissy took the world to church. It was Bring the World to Church Day.

My only wish is that Jesse Jackson had stayed his miserable, googly-eyed, wretched spirited self at home. He was out of place and everyone was able to see that clearly.

Oh, and Al Sharpton clarified that he DID NOT tweet from the church…he tweeted afterwards.
