This really is a celebration,,
While riding in the car with my mother, a Whitney Houston song came on the radio. She stated, ” I think that everything that happened in the last days of her life was God’s plan. Think about it. The last song she sang was ‘Jesus Loves Me’. They found her submerged under water, like God was washing away all of her sins. Now come on Home. Even if you have to take a few pills to get here. You are clean now, so come on Home.” It made me look at the situation in a different light, which made perfect sense. Just thought that I would share that.
Folks (YT) are losing their minds over it being called a Home Going. A celebration of her life. Its been discussed endlessly. They are about to see the Black church exposed. I pray for Bobbi Kristina and Cissy Houston today. TMZ is reporting that the family wants Bobbi Kris to go into rehab but are waiting to get pass the service. She is so young, it’s heartbreaking. God bless her and hold her.

I like how the family is putting her away in a traditional Black Baptist fashion. Someone going to start shouting in a minute. My church hand has gone up a couple of times saying “thank you Jesus” to the music and the pastor speaking.

I just want to know what’s going on with Jesse Jackson. The way he’s looking at Donnie and Tyler is just crazy. He sat with his arms crossed and was the only one not clapping for Donnie. I thought they had animosity until I saw the way he was looking at Tyler too and biting on his glasses.
I’m glad that Tyler showed how she was and that she was alright with God. It means a lot to a family to know that their loved one kept God in their heart and shared the word whenever they could.

Bebe Winans’ story was funny. I like when funerals have people who can tell funny stories about the person when they were here. Focuses more on REALLY celebrating the love, life and laughter of that person than that they are gone.
I read some of those TMZ folks. White folks can be so fukking close-minded. Concentrating on the flashing marquee outside of the church with “Whitney Houston’s Homegoing.” That marquee wasn’t just put there today! A LOT of Black churches have flashing marquees that announce the day’s events!

The Bodyguard will be on Lifetime tonight 8pm on westcoast…I must watch it, must! I was so proud of her, went into it scared that she would not be good at acting, then watching it, I cried she was perfection. What a day y’all..still can’t believe we are doing this today. So pleased her family handled this, they shut down New Jersey doing more. This is a service for them as well as Whitney.

What a beautiful service. A celebration because of her life and journey into our Lords House. She was so beautiful!!! I’m sorry but alicia was screaming and I almost changed the channel while she was singing/shouting but good thing my tea pot went off.

I’m so proud of this ceremony today . For the first time in a long time I have my tv tuned to BET because I know they will focus on the beauty of Whitney and they understand a true soul homecoming.
I won’t even give Jesse the attention he is so obviously craving, but I’ll say there’s at least one at every service, so he’s right at home.
I will continue to pray for all who loved Whitney and hope they will see her death as an opportunity to carry her with them at all times for all time.

I hope this tragedy will be wake up call for Bobbi Kris if no one else. Maybe Whit had to leave so she could do a better job of watching over her child. There are no mistakes when it comes to God calling folks home, but as survivors we always struggle to find the sense in it.

Now this is a funeral! I like how they have people speaking on her behalf that actually “KNEW” her personally and not just “know of her”. The focus is on Whitney and not on who they can bring in to get good ratings and coverage.
I’m not an Alicia fan (but i respect her) but I think she did well under the circumstances. You can tell she was real emotional. She was caught up… She couldn’t even speak when she first sat and took the mic. And hate me if you want but she sounded as comparable to Stevie’s “Ribbon in the Sky”… (Stevie killed the 2nd song)

Maybe I’m missing something, was that suppose to be Whitney’s Eulogy, sounded like a mini sermon to me. Was not impressed, however the rest of the service was great. JMO
Bobby’s 9 person entourage was his family. CNN even had the cameras on them when they were waiting outside, and they waited for a long time. His children are Bobbi Kristina’s siblings. They should be allowed to mourn Whitney. She was in their life for a long time as their step-mother. Bobby’s fiance should be with him also. Are people craz??. All this hate in their hearts for this man that has never done anything to them. Whitney was at Bobby’s mother funeral last year. I’m pretty sure she would have wanted him and his children at hers. Hell a week before she died she, Bobby and Bobbi Kristina had lunch together and were smiling and laughing. The pictures are all over the inertnet. Some of you’ll need to get a grip.
I wish Bobby would have stayed and sang to Whitney. She loved to hear Bobby sing.

When Ray J reached out and touched her casket, that was so sad. Brandy’s trying to comfort him. Dude broke down crying. Watching them hoist her casket and walk her out is what got me choked up.

That mf gets the lifetime side-eye award. even if his entourage couldn’t come in, or if he was allowed to speak…whatever it was, he should’ve sucked it up and been there to pay respect.
IDK who was the biggest clown today; bobby for walking out, or jesse for being there and the phuckin world never figured out why.
White folks gon be talking about this at work on Monday like they cant believe how spectacular this funeral was and folks gon have to educate them that it was a traditional Black funeral given in the traditional Sunday sermon way and almost all of them are like this.

@ Fayla, they’re not saying anything. They showed the pall bearers carrying the casket to the hearse. Then the family came out and got into 3 gold limos and left about 10 minutes ago. Now all the guests are leaving. Alicia Keys just got into her limo.

CNN just reported that he was seated, but then they came and asked him to move and then came back and asked him to leave. He was invited by the way. They said he took it well and he wasn’t acting crazy. They said he was told where he was seated was for family only. Cissy and Bobbi Kristina did not see what happened with Bobby.
To the other poster who said his children shouldn’t be there. What kind of sense does that make. There are people sitting up in that funeral that don’t even know Whitney. So children that spent a large part of their life with her can’t see her off, but those strangers can. Boy I i’ll you Common sense is no that common.

@ Cali, ex husband, not current husband, my opinion he has been reduced in status, legally and literally. As I said his invite didn’t include plus 8 even if it was her siblings. Apparently, the Houston family felt the same, that’s why he left.
I do get that they’re her family as is he, but you don’t bring 8 extra people to a church that could barely accommodate 300 people, IMO

No one said the family told him they did not want him there. That’s what happened period. I don’t know Who was behind it. All I know is they marred a beautiful ceremony with some hateful nonsense. Until Bobby or the family speaks on it people need to stop coming after him like he murdered her. It’s a lynch mob mentality for no reason.

In a statement put out by his representative, he explained, “My children and I were invited to the funeral of my ex-wife Whitney Houston. We were seated by security and then subsequently asked to move on three separate occasions.
“I fail to understand why security treated my family this way and continue to ask us and no one else to move,” he said. “Security then prevented me from attempting to see my daughter Bobbi-Kristina. In light of the events, I gave a kiss to the casket of my ex-wife and departed as I refused to create a scene. My children are completely distraught over the events. This was a day to honor Whitney. The pics of Bobby earlier before he went into the service was with him, his two older sons and his daughter. One of the sons was very emotional and crying and Bobby was comforting him.
Like others have said, Bobby should have been in that church.
HOWEVER, if Bobby’s 4 other kids were not welcome inside the church, I can respect his wishes to not leave them outside standing alone.
Oh and it was so sad to see ray j reach out and touch the casket as it was being walked out, broke down and comforted by brandy?

They had more of a right to be there than Jesse Jackson and some other folks. They DID know her INTIMATELY. And for Whitney to be as giving and caring of a person as she was and then to have them turn away folks like that at her funeral, I KNOW she wouldn’t have wanted that.
Its a shame. Security needs to fall the fukk back sometimes. It’s a funeral, not a club appearance.

In that 2009 interview Whit was saying Bobbi expressed to her being upset at him for promising to come see her and never showed up, promising to bring her things but never brought them.
Whatever Bobby’s current relationship with his daughter, I think it’s about to take a major change because the Houston’s are about to form a caravan around her and block him out. I can’t believe they would block him from speaking to her at the service, shameful.

Bobby’s relationship with Whitney was on stable ground. There are pictures posted showing him, Whitney and their daughter having lunch together a few days before she passed. Bobbi Kristina loves her father and spoke in interviews about the love she has for him. She goes to his concerts too. I know that first hand, because she sat a few seats away from me with her siblings at a show.
The service was great and I wish this incident did not have to happen. I’m glad people came to his defense. He has to have a firm back for his daughter and his other children as well.
They keep saying New Edition was there, but I didn’t see them anywhere.
Why did he have to move 3 times, what was the reasoning behind it? I thought the ushers were the ones doing the seating in the first place.
CNN said he was allowed 2 guests not nine so….they moved him around for people who were immediate family to Whitney

One News Source says Bobby was given an invitation for himself and two others (LaPrincia / Bobby Jr.). He showed up with 9 people.
Also, it states that there was an empty seat next to Bobbi Kristina for all of the service. Implying that the seat was for Bobby Brown.
Maybe he was moved around to accomodate his party? The part where he was not allowed to speak to his daughter may have more to it….

Yea I wonder if there is more to the story as well. I don’t see why she couldn’t have showed up sat down and sang then left right after to rest. I wonder if she expected to be paid….seems strange that she wouldn’t sing at her “beloved” goddaughters home going, but would perform the same night for a concert. It’s not that long of a distance to travel by the way.

Miss Cissy shared a story within the obituary that was beautiful.
She shared (paraphrase) that within minutes before the phone call telling her Whitney was gone, her doorbell rang, she went to get it, no one was there.
It rang again, with more urgency, and she went back to get it, and again, no one was there.
Then her phone rang, and it was that call telling her that Whitney was gone.
I truly believe that it was Whitney in spirit, letting her mother know that she was okay.
I am so proud of how Whitney’s homegoing was handled. Like Pastor said, Miss Cissy took the world to church. It was Bring the World to Church Day.
My only wish is that Jesse Jackson had stayed his miserable, googly-eyed, wretched spirited self at home. He was out of place and everyone was able to see that clearly.
