Oprah Winfrey scored the first exclusive interview with the only child of Whitney Houston, who passed away last month at age 48. The special aired on Oprah's OWN network tonight. Bobbi Kristina appeared briefly and spoke to Oprah about carrying on her mother's legacy. The 19-year-old said she can still hear Whitney singing, and sometimes she forgets that Whitney is gone.

During the interview, which was conducted in the Alpharetta home of Whitney's close friend and sister-in-law, Pat Houston, Kristina appeared tense, but happy. She smiled often and she appeared to be under the influence. Oprah hinted at that much: "What's getting you through it?" she asked.

"My family and the Lord and her. I can hear her in my head," said Kristina.

Kristina also said she felt Whitney's spiritual presence in the Alpharetta townhouse that they once shared. Kristina said she has conversations with Whitney, who flips the lights on and off in the house.

"I'm like, 'mom, what are you doing?'" Kristina said she asks Whitney.

Oprah also spent a great deal of time talking with Whitney's sister-in-law, Pat, who threw daggers at 'X-Factor' contestant Stacy Francis, with whom Whitney argued over Ray J. Pat also threw Ray J under the bus by suggesting that Whitney found love in all the wrong places.

Earlier today, TMZ.com broke the news that Bobbi Kristina will seek to change her name to simply "Kristina Houston," in an effort to sever all ties with her father, Bobby Brown.

Watch the interview with Kristina after the break.

If Bobbi K does change her name, shows how she really feel about her father. Man I sorta feel bad for Bobby Brown.

  • http://www.ashland86.com TheRealAshland

The interviewed sucked. Why were the standing with Bobbi K? Her part seems sorta rushed like, they didn't really know how much time they would have with her. I still say it was way to soon.

also, the fact that Bobby has to go thru Pat to get to his daughter was quite telling IMO :coffee: no care how famous one is, u still have a direct number no? hmmm  :coffee:

Thanks for posting Auntie. I don't have OWN!! I hate how everyone is bad mouthing Bobby Brown and the Stacy from X Factor. Bobby Brown has done some serious crap but gosh...we've all done terrible things.

  • http://youtu.be/EyiYdrc2e9Y tierraboo618

Ok. I am glad that Pat cleared up most of the rumors and questions that the public had in regards to Whitney. I think that Whitney couldn't be herself for real because of her upbringing. When you have the same gift as your parent and then you go on to be in the same industry as them, they tend to put so much pressure on you to be perfect. Especially, if you have greater potential than them. You will always doubt yourself if you aren't being the real you. Whitney toured extensively with rarely a break. I'm sure the pressure took a toll on her. I  that she is at peace and that her daughter can find peace as well. And I hope that her relatives, friends, peers, etc. stop selling stories to these tabloids. To me, her family has done more "selling" of Whitney to the press, than Bobby Brown ever did. Ya'll have all lived off Whitney for long enough, make your own way in the world.

  • Nadine

Dumb 19 year old. Why not fix that gap and reconnect with the only living parent you have left? I think she's mad at Bobby for NOT being the dead parent.

Just goes to show there is nothing like a mothers love. I do think O was asking some leading questions and I don't know why the hell they had to stand up during the whole interview, that was just odd. But BK seems to be doing OK. She'll make it through.

  • Flawless

It was a cool interview but I still feel as though there are a lot of unanswered questions, I don't like when I have to read between the lines to get the truth :coffee: the real truth will come out eventually.

  • Secret

Even though it was an ok interview, I am not saying anything because the toxic report is not back yet but why did people's (Pat's) schedule seem to change the day Whitney died? It never had before. That in itself looks suspicious.

  • Wonderboy

IMHO this interview was just a total MESS !!! I'm pretty disgusted at Oprah for this shameless "scoop" !!

    1. It was waaaaay to early to have this interview, this girl really can't catch a break !
    2. Why were they standing up, like, talking about such a sad subject as if they were having a "little chat" in the hallway.... the could have at least sit down, take some time to do the interview in a "sereen" way....
This almost looked like an episode of MTV Cribs to me !!!!
    3. i felt like Oprah was waaaaaay too "let me ask you some "emotional" questions and hopefully try to make you cry to get my struggling ratings back up..... i'm really dissapointed at her and her sensationalist ways !

I don't know.... it made me feel so uneasy to watch this video..... this poor girl just lost her mother, the worst thing anyone can ever experience, and they up there shoving a camera up her face and interviewing her about these really deep and emotional issues as if it were nothing....

They should be ashamed of themselves !

  • NaijaGal

Just realized that Bobbi Kristina had her birthday last week Sunday, March 4 without her mother...so heartbreaking...if she chose to do the interview upside down, laying on the floor, doesn't matter as long as she was comfortable...I myself questioned why so early but maybe her mother encouraged her and told her to do it...inspite of the pariahs around her Whitney Houston managed to have the right people in her daughter's life (Cissy, Patricia and her brother)...may God continue to sustain this family and envelope them in His arms as they continue to grieve

  • free

i didn't think i was going to like it but i liked how oprah hit all the questions we really wanted to know and let it go. i usually stan for TMZ but i simply don't believe this about bobbi kris. i know she knows her mom would not have wanted that but i also believe she may not even be thinking clearly at this time, going through all sorts of emotions.

she held up well and i applaud pat and gary's honesty. the biggie for the night was ray j though. wow.

Interview was okay. Too much "I don't know" answers for me.

Pat was right there with Whitney in the club but didn't hear what was said.. am I to believe she didn't even ask Whit what happened when they left?

I thought the part about the brother trying to save her was said :(

I saw people going in on Pat because she didn't answer her phone.. not once but twice. I didn't see that as a big deal because as her manager she was likely busy setting up for the event Whit was suppose to do.

Bobbi Kris... I thought Oprah was going to ask her about her father. Or I wanted her to ask about him but I guess Pat said it all when she said they haven't spoken since last year.

Overall, I didn't really learn anything new from this.

standing with bobby k: it seems like oprah hadn't gotten settled yet when bk walked in and oprah was like, "lemme go head on and get this going". i didn't like pat standing behind oprah looking at bk like "you better not say nothing we didn't already talk about". i think o was just trying to keep bk comfy and not feel like she was under a magnifying glass.

o's questions: seemed like she wanted SOMEBODY to sock it to bobby brown but, no matter who you ask, nobody seems to throw him under the bus. maybe that was just our (fueled by the media) perception because we didn't want to believe whitney could succumb like that. in discussing, bobby whit's brother made me believe that bobby really tried to reach out to her family to help him help her but she was doing what she wanted to do.

crying: i actually cried during the parts where she brought bk on stage. i remembered that she ALWAYS had that lil girl with her. and seeing a young bk cling to her like that reminded me of my own daughter and how fast they grow and how you can be gone in an instant.

i think it was mentioned that they all saw one another a week or so earlier for dinner? however, keeping in mind that bk was constantly on the road with her mother, i can see how she might not be as close to her dad, especially at this "think i'm grown" age.

i don't really feel a bad vibe about it. but i do have to wonder if the distance is self-imposed or if her family is keeping her sheltered to keep the money in-house. if she has no relationship with her father, there would be no reason to be so uber-protective and scared of him trying to get at her cash.

All I see are a bunch of people still living off of Whitney's name. She took care of them when she was alive, and now she's doing it in death. I don't believe half of the stuff said in this interview. They sold the rights to the funeral, sold the pic of her in her coffin and now a paid interview not long after her death. I don't think her mother would have approved of this mess. FYI Bobby's other children don't have a problem with him at all, they go everywhere with him. So how is their relationship any different then Bobbi K.

I didn't get a chance to see the whole interview, just the first hour, but from what I watched, i thought it was a good interview. Pat didn't hold back, except when it came to talking about Stacy and the real problem she and Whitney had. I think it had something to do with Ray J since Stacy said that she and Ray knew each other from childhood in another interview. Another thing I liked, was that Pat kept it classy when talking about Bobby Brown. Bobbi K didn't seem under the influence to me at all, she just seemed nervous which is normal when you have cameras in your face, i'm sure all of us would act the same way. I thought she spoke well, articulated and expressed herself well and showed that she is quite mature and understands her surroundings.

I also disagreed when Pat said she blamed the publisher of the picture more that the person who sold it. Uhm the person who sold it had to know Whit personally. I think they are more accountable than a news rag who had no connection and was just trying to sell some mags.

It was a good interview, Bobby Brown may have been a good man, but not when it came to Whitney, perhaps her drug problem was something they could get under control before she met and married a full blown addict, thus her leisure drug use became something else. Bobby didnt introduce her to drugs, but he was instrumental in her becoming addict most women will follow their men to the gates of hell.

At first, I felt it was too soon for Bobbi K. but, after last night I get it! Like she stated, all these ugly things people are saying about her mom, in addition the ugly things that are being said about her...she wants the world to know, I'm okay! Also, her mom may have been all these things to the general public, but she was a mom, friend, comforter, etc. to her! Now, that we have heard things from her perspective...people need to leave her alone, let her start building her own life! But, like O said this will be difficult because of her mom...the public will always make comparisons, but one thing I got from the interview and the old videos...Whitney loved her daughter; therefore, she's prepared for what's to come! I pray her support system is strong and more so she continues to be!

  • keekee83

The interview was okay for me. It was done in a respectful manner IMO. Everyone was asking why was Kristina Houston and O standing during that part of the interview but maybe Krissy was more comfortable doing it that way. It seems that O was taking her cues from Krissy and trying to make her comfortable.

I loved the fact that Pat Houston told the truth that noone wanted to hear...that Bobby Brown DID NOT introduce drugs to Whitney. I also respect the fact that the family is there for Krissy and helping her cope. People are so critical of the family but like Krissy said in the interview...everybody who was offering kind words now were clowning her mother not too long ago. I feel that way too, all the people clowing and vilanizing her family were some of the same ones dragging whitney when she was here. People dont know that family forreal. I think people want there to be drama, but Pat was one of the classiest ladies that I have seen in a while...she carried herself first lady-like.

And lastly, Oprah did not force krissy to have the interview. I heard her say that she wanted to do the interview to set the record straight because there was alot of negative press and rumors going on about her and her family and her mom. Sad thing is alot of the people who have read TMZ and made up their own minds about what happened to whitney and all those saying that she was this and that before she died, probably didn't and wont watch the interview because they like the negative. Rickey Smiley said this morning that Whitney probably mixed anxiety pill (perfectly legal and normal) and alcohol together (probably something that she and alot of folks did) and her heart and body couldn't take it.

I haven't watched the interview but I heard Pat's this morning on Frank Ski n Wanda. The fact that we never really heard Bobbi K or K Houston speak (besides when she was singing with her mom and that God awful reality show) and the fact that we are JUST hearing about how she feels about her dad is in indicator that Whitney did a good job (post drugs) of keeping their lives out of the media. Why is is that Whitney and Michael spent their energy keeping their children OUT of the media just for them to be exploited afterwards?

I didn't watch the interview although from what I've read, I'm glad her sis in law cleared up the rumors around her, well some of them. I want Bobbi K. to be surrounded by the people who actually have her best intentions in mind and I do NOT think trying to let her mother's legend live on by entering the industry is the right decision for her. Despite her parentage, she (from that youtube video) has a voice but not one that will withstand constant comparisons to her mother's and that will prevent her success and cause her more grief in the end. Whoever is close to her needs to let her know that. Now is not the time and if anyone cares about saving her than they will try to dissuade her from taking that step until she is fully stable, if then

Same here, but I have been seeing more and more false reporting ans stupid mistakes over there. They have been ripping Bobby a new one since Whit passed and being sympathetic toward Ray J like he was Whit's loving man. Yet after last night's interview they conveniently made no mention of the fact that Pat and Whit's brother loved Bobby and respected him and the marraige and were salty about all the interference they faced when they were married. They also failed to mention Whit's one sided relationship with Ray J and the confrontation between Whit and Stacy Francis that Pat put on blast. To say nothing of the fact that I read about Whit's fight with Stacy on a black blog the following day when TMZ didn't even post the pictures of the night until after Whit passed and still didn't know that Stacy was tripping over Ray "dating" her and Whit at the same time and having BOTH of them at a party he was DJing.

I'm going to respect Ray J the same as I respect Bobby because we all got issues, but I got to give him a side eye right about now.

  • AllNYC

Ray J should be waking up to some tire tracks up his back after that interview! Pat did not approve I see.
Eventually Bobby and Bobbi K will reach some kind of reconciliation. If Pat and Gary were being sincere, it doesn't seem like they would stand in the way. Cissy is another matter, but if she couldn't control Whitney there is no way she will be able to stop Bobbi K.
Bobbi Kris will need her father to lean on to conquer her own demons. He's been where she is. He has been through drug abuse and the pain of losing a parent.
