In Case You Missed It: Single Ladies, Season 2 Episode 1
If you didn’t catch the Season 2 opener of Queen Latifah’s scripted comedy drama Single Ladies, you really didn’t miss anything.
The show started off with what everyone thought was a dream sequence because the acting of newcomer Denise Vasi was THAT BAD. Yes, the show’s cast is known more for it’s eye candy appeal than for its acting abilities, but Vasi’s acting was definitely cringe worthy.
In the first few minutes of the new season, we are introduced to Raquel (Vasi) and her fiancee, Victor, a doctor. We’re supposed to be impressed by the fact that they both come from money, but Raquel mumbles something about Victor sleeping with a bridesmaid in the hotel and Raquel dumps Victor all in the first 10 minutes.
Once you get past Vasi’s bad acting, she is pleasant to look at. But her inability to move her lips without glancing at the cue cards keeps getting in her way.
Then Keisha (LisaRaye) and April (Charity Shea) both get text messages from Val informing them that she is still in Europe and she won’t be returning to the boutique –EVER. So Omar (Travis Winfrey) realized he might have to hustle his bod to pay his bills, has a momentary breakdown and screams “WHYYYY!” — before Keisha slaps some sense back into him.
In steps Raquel to save the day by buying the boutique so Keisha, April and Omar can keep their day jobs.
Val is a distant memory as the cast pours a little liquor out on one of her signature dress designs.
April is now a club promoter who hires rapper Big Boi to make a cameo at April’s club gig.
That’s where Keisha gets cuffed for tax evasion by hunky Agent Winston (Rick Fox, whose acting seems to have improved a little bit). It seems Keisha won $50,000 at a casino and she forgot to pay Uncle Sam his dues. So the 50k has ballooned to over $200,000 in added taxes and fees, and Keisha must pay up or go to jail.
But all debts to Uncle Sam will be forgiven if Keisha gives up her man, Malcolm, who is on the run from the law because he paid bribes for the mayor (rapper Common in season 1) who was extorting local businesses in Atlanta.
A lawyer, Sean Clark (who, they say is bisexual in real life) is introduced as one of Keisha’s old flames who is called by Raquel to represent Keisha. He wants Keisha to give up Malcolm to save herself some prison time.
But Malcolm put it on Keisha in the bedroom — and like most silly women who think love and sex are synonymous, Keisha decides to take the fall for “her man”.
As Keisha arrives with Sean to the FBI building, with the intentions of losing her freedom to save Malcolm, she’s stunned to see Malcolm himself arrive with his attorney. There’s some tension between Malcolm and Sean who both sniff each other’s legs and realize that they are (or were) involved with the same bitch.

I hope it gets better. It was very theatrical. The directors should have invested in acting coaches in between seasons. They need some help.

the show was horrible, the acting was horrible, the writing is trash…so your best friend flies off to Europe and decides to tell you via EMAIL that she’s not returning…mmmkay…I’m certain this is the last season of this show

the acting has always been horrible but I love me some Lisa Raye 
I watched the first 15 minutes to see what all of the hype was about and I was sorely disappointed. The whole storyline looked like a knock off of a Tyler Perry movie.

so once the jacket was taken away they kinda went left with it.

The acting is atrocious. I thought they would get someone better than Stacy, but they only managed to accomplish getting someone pretty. Plus, Vasi’s eyes are creepy.
Lisa looks like the house mother. Shame. The whole casting on this show is just ridiculous.
And when I look at D.B. Woodside or whatever his name is, all I can think of is Blue from the Temptations…

I don’t believe they had the same writers and directors for the Game but if they did those writers need their fingers broken but dumbing down their abilities
I’ve said on another post that the black chick that created this show was harping and celebrating like she created a “livin single” quality product. This show is pure and utter bs, and Latifah should be ashamed. These women spend so much time on their backs from the previews alone, I’m surprised when they’re standing on walking. horrible, horrible show.

The part that had me
was when Lisa’s old flame was like yeah, I cheated, but I never expected you to leave and Lisa was like yeah, you right, I should have given you another chance even though you cheated (paraphrasing). 
I watched last season and put up with the horrible acting due to the story line and the lovely Miss Dash, however this season there is no getting past the acting. I just can’t.

I have never read Zane books, I only watched Zan show e series seasons 1 & 2 on cinemax. I’m still waiting on season 2 to come out on dvd.. Now that was a show worth watching..
Sorry but if they get rid of all the the bad acting and actually put good actors on this show it will be really great. I can not get past LisaRaye and her bad acting. She can’t act for S**T!!! I want to say that J-Lo is a better actress then she is. The story lines are great but the acting is HORRIBLE!!!!
