Frank Ocean’s ‘Channel Orange’ Shattering Sales Expectations
Coming out was the best thing Frank Ocean could have done for his unremarkable career. Ocean, a member of the eclectic Odd Future collective, announced his homosexuality in a dramatic posting on his Tumblr page last week — just in time for the release of his album Channel Orange.
According to industry estimates, ‘Orange’ is on pace to sell 125-135k in its first week based on retail pre-orders. The estimates far exceeds the 40-50k units that were originally predicted.
Ocean is on pace to sell more albums next week than troubled singer Chris Brown whose heavily promoted studio album Fortune undersold all industry expectations.
In an effort to capitalize on the positive press Ocean has been receiving, Billboard reports that labels have authorized retailers to sell the album as soon as they receive their shipments, rather than wait until next Tuesday.

Frank Ocean’s voice has no range, no depth. He’s a worse singer than Kanye.

I think a lot of us go through the questioning phases or episodes!! And I don’t think anything is wrong with it!
^^No its normal,,,But for someone to be upfront with it is unusual. As Black folks we are often taught to believe in, put it in his hands, hold on, pray on it,,Dont go to a shrink, go to church…And so forth. Bella is def against the norm, and has no shame in admitting so. Which is great. Its progressive. I dont necessarily agree with her, but I applaud her. I applaud non believers as well. You dont have to have range to speak to an audience. Whether thats good or not is up for debate. Mary has no range, but shes always had me under her spell. At least in the early years. For the most part, yes I appreciate singers who can sing,,,But every now and then…Smokey has no range, yet his voice and also his songs speak to me. Its possible to be a great artist with minimal range. Diana did it, nobody faults her for her limited vocal skills…It just depends…

The album really isn’t anything to shake a stick at. Yea, it’s not what’s on the radio right now, but the songs are only interesting for a few minutes then I had to skip to the next track. I tried but found nothing on the album I vibed with. Perhaps I am not enlightened enough to get it?
Totally applaud him for having the courage to come out. But why is his face so irritating?

WASHINGTON — A District of Columbia police officer has been taken off a motorcycle escort for White House officials after he allegedly said he’d shoot first lady Michelle Obama and “then used his phone to retrieve a picture of the firearm he said he would use,” according to The Washington Post.
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating and the Secret Service has been told of the alleged threat, the Post reports:
The motorman allegedly made the comments Wednesday morning as several officers from the Special Operations Division discussed threats against President Obama. It was not immediately clear where the alleged conversation took place or exactly how many officers took part in the conversation.
During that conversation, the officials said, the officer allegedly said he would shoot the First Lady and then used his phone to retrieve a picture of the firearm he said he would use. It was not immediately clear what type of firearm was allegedly shown.
An officer overheard the alleged threat and reported it to a police lieutenant at the Division, who immediately notified superiors, the officials said.
The officer has been moved to administrative duty as the incident is being investigated, according to the Post.
MPD Chief Cathy Lanier told WRC-TV/NBC4: “There is conflicting information about what the officer said. … Internal Affairs will get to the bottom of it.”
