Gabrielle says homewrecker and gold digger accusations hurt her deeply
Gabrielle Union is painfully aware that the blogs don’t approve of how she got her man. The 40-year-old actress worked hard to revamped her image from that of a neighborhood bicycle to a respected basketball wife. Union said she ignored the “madness” on the blogs because she was in love. But the gossip reached a fever pitch when Siohvaughn Funches, Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife, filed a lawsuit against her for alienation of affection. The lawsuit was later thrown out of court.
“It’s hard because, aside from loving him, I want to protect myself. I’ve built my life. I built my own brand,” said Gabby. “I built my career and my career took a hit from that madness because some people refuse to see the truth, even when it’s presented to them time and time again. I love him but at some point it’s about self preservation.”
Gabby opened up about the malicious gossipmongers who say she’s only interested in D. Wade’s bank account.
“I pay for my family. I pay for my mommy and my daddy and my sisters and her family. ‘D’ doesn’t write those checks, I do, so when something is starting to affect the way I make a living, ‘no no no baby,’ let me figure out a way for me to protect our home that me and Dwyane have with the kids.”
“You have to put their love of their mom, their love of peace of mind and love of consistency first, and then I have to make sure I can still feed my own family. Luckily, by taking the high road and not engaging in the back and forth craziness, I was able to do both. Luckily, by doing the right thing and putting the children first, it worked out that I was able to save myself.”
Gabby made the statements on the red carpet at the Radio One Fest in Miami over the weekend.

Some states require you to be seperated for a certain amount of time before you are granted a divorce. I’ve never been too fond of the word homewrecker. In most cases, the home was already wrecked by 1 or both of the people in the relationship. And I also don’t think a person still legally married has to wait until divorce (which can take years in some cases) to move on, especially if the relationship is clearly over. Just MY opinion though

I DO NOT like this woman, and I DO see her as a gold digger. She entered this situation while this man was still married and fighting over the custody of his children. To most people, this is a big old red sign that a man is unavailable. If her man was some poor working classed dude, still married and fighting his wife for custody of his children; she wouldn’t have anything to do with him. It IS all about the money and the fame.
The real reason I cannot stand this broad is because every time she get’s bad press, she trots out her rape story. She has done this quite a few times. I’m sorry, but rape is not a joke, and something used as a bargaining tool to make folks forgive the other rancid sht you are doing.
Another reason I cannot stand her is because she is one of those folks who went to party the day Whitney died, and whose body was still on the premises. It’s just paperwork. When it’s over, it’s over. And sometimes one person won’t let go. Should the other person be held hostage in that case? And sometimes you do the “right” thing, wait till the ink is dry, and folks still be trying to hold and make things hard for the one trying to move on.
Consider these things when you want to label someone a “homewrecker”. Tis all.

Modern times have tried to make it about love and soul mates and unnecessary romantical bullsht. That’s why we have a 50% divorce rate. Trying to get too much from a thing not meant to give all of that. Imo.

You said you help take care of your people. Gabby said she supports them. That sounds like she is paying all their bills. In actuality, she probably means it the same way you do. She kicks them a couple of dollars from time to time when they need it. But she made it sound like it was more than that. And when I say she is not a high paid actress, it is exactly for the reasons you stated. Tyler ain’t handing out no million dollar paychecks. She probably makes 100k for a Tyler Perry film at the most. She’s getting risduals (sp?) off that old azz Neutrogena contract that she signed 10 years ago.

In the state I live in you have to be legally seperated for 1 year before granted a divorce. If your mind is completely made up about your divorce and there is no chance of reconciliation in sight you just might meet someone within those 12 months and it may blossom into something. NO disrespect but some people need to know when it’s over. I do not want to fight to be with someone who doesn’t want me. Just my opinion
