In Case You Missed It: Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, Episode 7
In last night’s episode of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta Stevie J and Mimi faced their abandonment issues head on in a sit-down session with a therapist. The therapist was able to get Stevie and Mimi to see that their defense mechanisms, insecurities (Mimi); manipulation, promiscuity and lying (Stevie) were formed as a result of being abandoned in childhood by their parents.
The tears flowed as Mimi explained that her mother joined the Scientology cult and farmed her out to family members when she was only 13. As for Stevie, he never knew his mom (his dad raised him from the age of 8 months). Stevie uses women as sex objects to compensate for the lack of nurturing from his mother.
Stevie admits that he loves Mimi, but he isn’t in love with her. What we usually perceive as being in love is actually just the dopamine rush coursing through our loins. Once the dopamine fades, true love can be established.
Mimi admits she clings to Stevie because she fears being abandoned again. The pain of his multiple affairs (and 6 babies) is something Mimi endures out of her intense fear of losing herself just as she lost her mom.
“Mimi, I know you’re a strong woman, but we are going to talk about enabling behaviors. Why does a man cheat? Because a woman lets him,” said the therapist.

I really enjoyed the realness of that fake therapy session. There is always a reason why people are the way they are. It has also dawned on me that I am addicted to this show without all the fighting. It’s the fakest reality show on TV, but Mona and the other producers have made it interesting without relying on physical altercations. Benzino and Karlie kill me dead with their fake love. They are the best actors on the show. K. Michelle’s teeth are too much for me. I just can’t keep looking at them. And Mimi is really corny.

Ok MIMI and Stevie J- I also felt sorry for them. I really dislike seeing when a parent is missing from a childs life. Then for MIMI’s mom to give them away..wow. Heartbreaking.
