Mona Scott-Young says Love & Hip Hop Atlanta is not scripted
Urban reality show producer Mona Scott-Young says her Love & Hip Hop reality franchise is not scripted. In an interview with DJ Sway on MTV’s RapFix Live, The former artist manager said, “There are like 40-something people on set. Do you think I can get them all to keep the secret? What do they do with script afterwards, eat it? This is their lives!”
Scott-Young also had a strong response to popular public opinion that her shows promote negative stereotypical images of black women:
“[These people] have every right to tell their stories. I think they’re valid stories, and judging by the numbers, they’re stories that people want to see and hear about. But if this is not your cup of tea, there are other great shows on other networks that you may view as well.”
But one of the commenters on Rhymeswithsnitch.com said it best:
mona is telling the truth…its not scripted. what they do in reality tv is they tell the people you see on screen a “situation” and have them react. thy tell them what questions to ask and feed them info. all of the scenes are highly set up. there may not be a “script” per se but the producers highly influence what is going on. so mona is truthfully full of shit.
