Willow Smith: ‘Let me be me’

Don’t you find it ironic when narcissistic celebrities (and their offspring) complain about their lack of privacy when they are the ones who seek constant attention?

No one would be talking about Willow Smith if she wasn’t such a publicity hungry 11-year-old. Willow’s older brother, Trey Smith, lives his life outside of the public eye — so we know that she can do the same.

Willow’s outlandish personal style has, at times, drawn criticism from parents who think Will and Jada Pinkett-Smith should reel her in.

“Grown ups [have] children and they say ‘you can be whatever you want to be.’ And then they go on my Instagram and comment, ‘How can your parents let you go out looking like that?’ Telling me that I can’t do what I want to do. When I’m someone’s child,” Willow whined in a recent interview with MTV.

“You’re telling your kid they can be this but telling me I can’t be that. “The thing is that if I know what’s true in my heart and my soul, then what people say can’t shape that. I can say, ‘I don’t have a fake tongue ring,’ and they’ll be like, ‘aw, she covered it up!’” Willow added.

WILLOW Smith doesn’t get to go to school because of her pop career.

The 10-year-old singer — the daughter of Hollywood heavyweights Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith – admits the amount of time she spends in class has dwindled since she started making music and one subject she is struggling with is maths.

“I never really get to go to school because I am always on tour, or with my father,” she said.

“There is a tutor most of the time, but usually I am working so I never get to do the lessons. The worst thing about maths is all the kids are ahead of me because they go to school.”

Willow — whose debut single Whip My Hair is becoming a global hit — decided she wanted to become a recording artist after her dad Will let her add some vocals to one of his rap songs.

She has also been on tour with her mother Jada’s band Wicked Wisdom and was inspired by her performances.

“I was four years old when I recorded a song with daddy and only said a couple of words, and I thought, ‘This is cool.’ It wasn’t supposed to be in the song but he wrote me something at the last minute.,” she said.

“I would go with my mom on her tour and look at her and love what she did. I thought, ‘Maybe I should do that.’ So I did. I’m going to make songs to inspire people.”

@ YSO….I personally have no bad feelings towards that lil girl or think anything bad about her as a person, I mean she’s a kid but, having said that, I think strongly believe that all kids should have the opportunity to be a kid and have a time to enjoy their innocence, not saying she doesn’t because I don’t know her like that.

Otherwise i snook and did it and it eventually got back to my parents but I digress. I think most parents say “you can be what you wanna be” as in careers and education. I think clothing, makeup, and hair for pre-teen/teen should have boundaries, because you are raising a young lady which will become a woman. For example, you will have a child dressing sexy and then as a parent try not kill ppl for looking suggestively. This child is in the wide open (no boundaries)having to defend herself to the world, which she shouldn’t have to do because of maturity reasons… 1. Why aren’t her parents stepping up and defending her choices they allowed? 2. When is Will and Jada gonna take their balls back and put some pa rental boundaries up? *End RANT* breathing hard, drops mic
