‘Sparkle’ Filmgoers Cry for Whitney
Whitney Houston was poised to make a comeback with her role as a single mother in Sparkle, starring Jordin Sparks and Derek Luke. But, sadly, Houston passed away in February at age 49, just days after wrapping her final movie. Whitney’s passing was difficult on her fans who poured their hearts out in emotional tributes on social networking websites.
Screenings of Sparkle is evoking emotional responses from audience members who fight to hold back tears during Whitney’s scenes.

Whitney Houston’s voice drew tears from the audience at the Tribeca Grand during a screening of “Sparkle,” Houston’s last on-screen performance. When the late singer appeared in a church scene singing a solo of gospel hymn “His Eye Is on the Sparrow,” sniffles could be heard in the audience, which included the movie’s stars, Jordin Sparks, Derek Luke, Tika Sumpter, Omari Hardwick, Mike Epps and Carmen Ejogo. After wiping away tears, the crowd burst into applause at the end of Houston’s scene.
Sparkle is in theaters nationwide on August 17.

I cry for people I dont know I cry for my patients that has stage 4 cancer that I never really met but have to deal with. I just have empathy hell I can cry for animals. However dont mistake me for sucker

I know I can’t go see this movie… When Marvin Gaye was killed, I cried the entire day for a man I did not know and seeing as how I was 11/12 probably only knew 2 of his songs… for a Woman whose songs I’ve known a majority of my life… i would be a puddle on the floor

On the same page, told my sis we dropping by Friday night and purchasing those Saturday matinee tickets. I know I would cry loved Whit regardless and actually she purchased the rights to the movie and always wanted to see it remake so Im happy at least she got that while she was alive

The music and hair are for that era but for some reason there seems to be too much of a modern edge to it. Also I cant remember the mother having so much of a focus on the original the key story was about Sparkle and Sister if memory serves me right

My sister and I stay in the same apartment building.
She’s engaged to a man she’s been with for 10 years. She has two kids by him already. Okay here’s the dilemma: I’ve been sleeping with him for the past 6 years and my son who is 5 years old is his son but he does not know.
My sister doesn’t know that we have been having an affair. My sister and her fiancé have been living together for about as long as the affair has been going on. It actually started when he moved into the building. My sister works 10 hours a day and is barely home so he comes by my apartment on his lunch breaks and we have sex. The worst part about this is that his best friend and I have been together for two years. His best friend does not know that he and I have been having an affair.
Also, I think I’m pregnant but I don’t know who the father is. To make matters worse, my sister and her man have fallen on hard times and are staying with me until they get financially situated. His best friend has been there for me for a while now after I got divorced from my first husband. My ex-husband and I got divorced because I found out that he’s sleeping around with a few of my family members behind my back including my sister. And, I suspect that my ex-husband is the father to her two kids. He comes around a lot, but most times it’s just to see my sister and her kids. The birth certificate doesn’t have the father’s name listed on it either. He even brings her pampers and milk from time to time. He was even at the hospital both times when she gave birth to both of them. One of her son’s is 4 and the other is 7.

The original ‘Sparkle’ wasn’t a well-made film, but it was a cult classic, so folks are always going to feel some kind of way when folks try to remake those types of films. It has an authentic originality to it and now when I see the previews all I see is a modern and improved version, which oddly kind of insults the original…if that makes sense…

Also, I think I’m pregnant but I don’t know who the father is. To make matters worse, my sister and her man have fallen on hard times and are staying with me until they get financially situated. His best friend has been there for me for a while now after I got divorced from my first husband. My ex-husband and I got divorced because I found out that he’s sleeping around with a few of my family members behind my back including my sister. And, I suspect that my ex-husband is the father to her two kids. He comes around a lot, but most times it’s just to see my sister and her kids. The birth certificate doesn’t have the father’s name listed on it either. He even brings her pampers and milk from time to time. He was even at the hospital both times when she gave birth to both of them. One of her son’s is 4 and the other is 7.
It’s really hard to keep the affair going while he lives in the same house with my sister and me. So what do you think I should do? P.S. Thanks for reading my letter giving me advice on my situation. – A Girl In Love

Like I said I loved the original. Now Im only going to the movies to see Whitney. Hell I didnt even go see Save the Last Dance (and I saw all in theatres) cause that crazy mofo had me shook to be in a theatre. Many people are mixed on the new version because like stated it was a cult classic that everyone always wondered what it would be like with an improved budget. However Holly-wierd always make poor casting decisions when remaking shows and many people were not feeling the Mike Epps casting. I’d quicker believe Derek Luke as a pimp than Mike Epps, but im gonna give it a try cause of Whitney
