Singer and celebrity DJ Solange Knowles, 26, was spotted talking to an unidentified male outside the Chateau Marmont on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood, not far from her home. Beyonce’s little sister was dressed down for the occasion. But even when dressed casually, Solange runs circles around her pompous sister. Love her wing tip pumps!

@dat I worked in several areas of hospital to include administration and Im sure most hospitals can’t discriminate. When my son was in NICU I asked that a particular nurse not care for my son. She claimed he got too existed when I was there. so I said cool please don’t have nurse ratchet care for him. Charge nurse said cool. But it was not race biased. So they will probably settle out of court.

@ datsmdubya2u: I read about that story over the weekend. I was going to write a post about it. My thought is that the nurse is just greedy for money. I’m sure that’s not the first time she has encountered that type of request. The important thing when you’re a nurse is to help your patients heal and to be independent in their care. Cultural and religious differences are always considered in their care. If a patient doesn’t want a particular nurse caring of them, for whatever reason, the hospital tries to accommodate that patient’s wishes. On the other hand, if the man in the article is not a patient, that’s different. The hospital should have informed him that all of their nurses are capable of caring for his baby – and if he didn’t like it, he could take his baby to a different hospital. Something similar happened to me on my first day in orientation as a visiting nurse. I never met the patient, but the nurse who was training me told me that that particular patient didn’t want black nurses caring for her. I was fine with that. I don’t take such things personally because I don’t want to take care of racists. So she was doing me a favor.

So true, my daughter goes to a gifted school of over 500 but there are only about 25 black kids. They all seem to treat her very well but every now and then she gets a little reminder of the real deal. I try to keep her grounded. Be cool, but not oblivious.
