Tonik the dog and wolf boy

Tonik, the dog is available for adoption — if you don’t mind owning a dog with an “eerily humanoid face.” The Indiana animal welfare agency describes Tonik as a “poodle-Shih Tzu mix.

The boy pictured on the right suffers from a condition known as hypertrichosis — or werewolf syndrome — which results in the growth of thick body hair all over his face. Tonik, the dog is pictured on the left.

The Huffington Post explains that Tonik the dog was transferred to the Homeward Bound Animal Welfare Group from a kill shelter in Kentucky. Probably because the shelter workers couldn’t put down a dog with a face like that.

“In an email to The Huffington Post, Jen Schwartz, the owner of Homeward Bound, said the shelter had recently taken in dogs that required dental work and had illnesses that required expensive treatments.”

Hopefully someone will see the many stories about Tonik on the Internet and adopt him.
