Michael Jordan Paternity Suit Dropped

An Atlanta woman who claimed NBA legend Michael Jordan fathered her now 16-year-old son has dropped her paternity suit, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

“Ms. Smith has authorized a dismissal of the current suit against Mr. Jordan,” Pamela Y. Smith’s attorney, Randall M. Kessler told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution via email on Monday.

The two sides met for a status hearing last week in Judge Bensonetta Tipton Lane’s courtroom. Jordan was not present.

“Ms. Smith has authorized a dismissal of the current suit against Mr. Jordan,” Pamela Y. Smith’s attorney, Randall M. Kessler told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution via email on Monday.

Jordan counter-sued, showing via his attorney that the teen’s parentage had been established in a 2003 divorce case in which Smith acknowledged that her son was the result of her now-ex-husband, Glennville G. Reynolds.

Monday, Kessler said his client had made a final decision.

Ms. Smith has relied on our advice and determined that dismissal at this time, without prejudice, is in her son’s best interest,” he said.

Smith previously contended that Jordan fathered Grant Pierce Jordan Reynolds during a romantic fling 17 years ago, while Jordan was still married to his first wife, Juanita.

Obviously Smith dropped the case to save her son further embarrassment.
