The ongoing spat between pro golfers Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia got ugly on Tuesday when Garcia made a racist remark in reference to Woods.

The drama started when Garcia accused Woods of distracting him during the Players’ golf Championship in May. Ever since then Garcia and Woods have traded barbs and avoided each other. But things got nasty when Garcia was asked if he would invite Woods over for dinner during the U.S. Open in June.

“Sure. We’ll have him ’round every night,” Garcia allegedly said. “We will serve fried chicken.”

Garcia later apologized for his “silly joke.” But Woods took to his Twitter account and wrote:

“The comment that was made wasn’t silly. It was wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate.

“I’m confident that there is real regret that the remark was made.

“The Players [tournament] ended nearly two weeks ago and it’s long past time to move on and talk about golf.”

Woods, the #1 golfer in the country, has heard the fried chicken joke before. Fuzzy Zoeller apologized to Woods in 1997, when he joked that fried chicken would be served to Woods, the defending champion, at the champions’ dinner.

Whenever Tiger Woods gets too comfortable and thinks he’s one of them, they gently remind him that he is one of us.
