Frank Ski Tweets Open Letter to CNN’s Don Lemon

Local restauranteur Frank Ski, left, tweeted his response to CNN anchor Don Lemon’s oral dissertation on what’s wrong with black men in America.

Lemon, 47, recently defended Bill O’Reilly’s low opinions of black men, saying O’Reilly didn’t “go far enough” in his depiction of black men as social outcasts.

Addressing black people directly, Lemon, who is openly gay, listed “5 Things To Improve Black America,” beginning with “Pull up your pants.”

In his letter to Don, titled “I’m just saying,” Ski tweeted “It was extremely irresponsible for a person of your influence to point fingers and criticize without also listing the “Systemic Racisms” of America that brought us to this point.”

Ski, 49, who owns Frank Ski’s Restaurant and Lounge, left V-103 last year after 14 years at the helm of the station’s top-rated Frank Ski Morning Show and Frank and Wanda Morning Show.

I dont think he was saying that us as African Americans are the only ones doing this. I think he was saying that us as a race things that it is ok but turns around and wants handout from the government. Let me be clear I dont think he means all of the African American race but alot of Black women will have kids just to be on welfare, get free housing and get a check for the kids. Out of all the issues Don addressed, having kids out of wedlock is probably the most important. Sure, we all know the out-of-wedlock birth rate has risen across the board for ALL races since the 1960s. But Black folks are the undisputed leaders in this category at a 73% out-of-wedlock birthrate. Unmarried parents who have children is not a huge deal if those parents are decent and have the ability to financially support their offspring. The problem lies with the unmarried black folks who continue to reproduce while residing in low-income neighborhoods and ghettos. Children who are raised without fathers in the hood will often grow up with little supervision at home which means they are frequently drawn to the street life. This means the prisons and graveyards are kept full but not before those young men reproduce bastard (biblical term) children of their own. So the cycle of poverty and despair continues for a large portion of the African-American population.

Some Black people are always so quick to drink the poison about themselves based on the media’s depiction, never realizing that what’s being said should have no race, creed, or color attached to it.

You can’t get any whiter than the community I live in, and lo and behold, what do I see (thinking of my Russian neighbor) upstairs. Sagging pants (hugely popular with White boys), litter (loves leaving beer cans and bottles strewn all over the place), extremely loud talking and music playing while he and his friends are out in the parking lot fixing his car, and the list goes on and on. High crime in White areas is rampant. No talk of that, huh? Drug and alcohol addiction, child abuse (I’m a CASA, so trust me, White folks aren’t living large, but foul), soccer moms on drugs, high unemployment rates, homelessness, teens hanging out with nothing to do. Yes, THESE ARE WHITE KIDS. When are the White reps going to address the mess that goes on in THEIR communities. Actually, they do, but guess what? They don’t make it about WHITE; they make it about being human. When Black do something, all of us get the collective Black and White fingers waved at the whole population. If that’s the pot you want to be in, go for it. I won’t be included because I’m responsible for my actions and my actions only.

Some would say, which is typical for the mindset of some Black folks, “I don’t care what goes on with them; I care about what goes on in the ‘Black community.'” Well you should care because we don’t live on this planet alone. We interact with all kinds of people everyday (if you live in America), so the behaviors of all affect us all.

If Don Lemon REALLY cared about the “Black community,” instead of being a mouth-piece for his owners, he’d encourage us to build our communities ECONOMICALLY. Instead of spending millions of dollars on our hair or on designer clothes, we should collective get a vision for our communities (since we talk so much about “WE”) and start following the examples of other ethnicities. Many of us don’t have a vision. There are way too many wealthy Blacks for us not to own shyt. Why don’t we put our money where our mouths are? It’s easy to blame Black people for the ills of society. No one wants (and Don definitely wouldn’t) address systematic racism. Yes, it’s been around, and it will be around, so what does that mean? Don’t address it? Don’t hold them to the fire that’s constantly being lit under out azzes? Excuse them for the massive problems they’ve caused. Wake up!

Why do some Black people continue to believe the worse out ourselves. Why? Because it’s feed to them, and since many of us only get our sources via the White run media, we sit down and eat with the devil himself. Check out the documentary, “Bamboozled,” and quit falling for the b.s. Everyone on this planet needs to improve. Tell that to the powers that brought down many investors and stole billions of dollars from them.

P.S. We talk about the Black community as if we are one ball wrapped together. We ARE NOT. There are many, many Blacks doing wonderful things, but if we keep our heads buried with the negativity, we won’t be looking for it. Let’s be about something!
