Convicted ‘Traitor’ Bradley Manning Hopes Obama Will Pardon Him.. Now That He’s Transgender

Army Pfc. Bradley Manning was sentenced to 35 years in military prison Wednesday for leaking sensitive top secret documents to anti-secrecy website Wikileaks.

2 years ago, President Obama was adamant that Manning was an unpatriotic traitor who “broke the law.” But Manning hopes that President Obama will have a change of heart now that Manning is one of the “sexual minorities” who are near and dear to Obama.

Yahoo News reports that Manning announced in a statement to “Today” that he identifies as female and wants to be known as Chelsea Manning.

During his trial, Manning’s attorney, David Coombs, presented evidence that Manning “struggled with sexual identity disorder.” Now Coombs and LGBT rights groups are calling on Obama to pardon Manning.

Even if Obama doesn’t pardon Manning for time served, Manning will still benefit from ObamaCare, which will almost certainly pay for his expensive sex change operations while he’s behind bars.

In his statement to “Today,” Manning wrote:

“I am Chelsea Manning. I am a female. Given the way that I feel, and have felt since childhood, I want to begin hormone therapy as soon as possible. I hope that you will support me in this transition. I also request that, starting today, you refer to me by my new name and use the feminine pronoun (except in official mail to the confinement facility). I look forward to receiving letters from supporters and having the opportunity to write back.”
