Shellie Zimmerman pleads guilty

The wife of George Zimmerman, the night watchman who shot unarmed teen Trayvon Martin, has officially filed for divorce, reports ABC News (via Mediaite.com).

George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of killing Trayvon, was stopped for a second time for speeding — this time in Lake Mary, Fla., a city just south of Sanford, where he shot Trayvon in February 2012.

Shellie was in court to support her husband every day of his murder trial in July. But George apparently abandoned her after he was acquitted by an all-female jury. Zimmerman is rumored to be cheating on his wife, with the cash that was publicly donated to the couple to cover his legal fees.

Singer and socialite Beyonce continued her 35th birthday celebration with her husband, aging rapper Jay Z, in Stromboli, Italy today. When they get back to the states Jay Z needs to hit the gym to work out to get rid of that beer belly hanging over his trunks. A beer gut is not a good on a aging rapper who’s trying to keep up with the young bucks.

Girl sent home for wearing dreads

A 6-year-old Tulsa, Oklahoma girl was sent home from school because her unkempt dreadlocks violated the school’s dress code.

Tiana Parker’s father, Terrance Parker, told KOKI that his daughter was pulled out of class at Deborah Brown Community School for having the “wrong hairstyle.”

“She’s always presentable,” explained Parker, who is a barber by trade. “I take pride in my kids looking nice.”

“They didn’t like my dreads,” the little girl cried during an interview with a KOKI reporter.

Facebook policy change

Social networking giant Facebook has announced a new change in its policy that will allow advertisers to use your name, original content, Personal data and your photos in their online advertisements without your permission and without compensation to you.

The announcement comes on the heels of a legal settlement earlier this week that saw Facebook pay out over $20 million to Facebook members whose names and images were used in ads without their permission. Under the terms of the settlement each user will receive $15 in compensation.

Prior to the new change, Facebook members were allowed to choose privacy settings that blocked the use of their name and images in advertising on the social network. Those privacy settings have now been removed.

Facebook has reworded the policy to inform users that your face and name CAN be used in advertisements going forward — without your permission.

Champion boxer Floyd Mayweather has everything money can buy. Too bad his money can’t buy him common sense or self-esteem, because then he would truly be prosperous.

Mayweather’s millions keeps him relatively comfortable — and he makes sure to always have at least a million in cold cash on hand. As for the rest of his money, according to ESPN The Magazine, the narcissistic pugilist keeps $123 million in a single bank account.

By the way, the FDIC covers bank deposits up to $250,000. So if Floyd’s bank ever goes under, the majority of his cash will go down with it.

An African American pastor of a Charlotte, N.C. church came under fire recently for requesting white only greeters at the front doors of the church.

Pastor Makeda of Freedom House Church sent an email blast to the members of his church asking black members not to serve as greeters on Sunday mornings at the 9 a.m. service, the Atlanta journal Constitution reports.

The dreadlocked pastor made the unusual request to attract more Caucasian members to the church. In the email, Makeda wrote “first impressions count,” and she wanted only “the best of the best on the front doors.”

Toronto teacher suspended

A Toronto, Canada grade 7-8 teacher was placed on paid leave after he posted a sexually graphic brochure depicting a gay sex act on a bulletin board in his grade 7-8 classroom, the Toronto Sun reports.

Toronto District School Board (TDSB) officials suspended teacher Wade Vroom in May 2013 after he created a bulletin board in his classroom last October that included graphic illustrations on how to perform safe oral sex on men.

The teacher intended the brochure to be part of the Toronto school system’s sex education curriculum. The brochure was published by the AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT), and titled “Use Your Head When Giving It: Bl0w Job Tips.”

Ariel Castro sentenced to life

After serving only 33 days of a 1,000 year prison sentence for kidnapping 3 Cleveland women, Ariel Castro hanged himself in his prison cell yesterday, the New York times reports.

Castro, 53, was found hanging in his cell at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio at 9:20 p.m. Tuesday night. He was later pronounced dead at a hospital. Castro was placed on suicide watch after his arrest earlier this year for kidnapping 3 girls between 2002 and 2004 and keeping them captive in his Cleveland home.
