Troubled singer Chris Brown will probably spend the next 3 months in a Malibu, Calif. rehab facility learning to manage his anger issues that stem from his childhood growing up with an abusive father and an emotionally stunted mother.
There has been no firm decision on the expected length of Brown's rehab stay, but an insider close to the 24-year-old singer's camp tells gossip blog TMZ that Brown himself is open to staying in rehab as long as 3 months.
One source put it this way ... "The rehab facility has been told to take him [Brown] apart and put him back together."
As TMZ first reported ... Brown is specifically getting treatment for his anger problem, which MANIFESTED ITSELF LAST WEEKEND when he was arrested for allegedly punching a guy in the face.
And, as we previously reported, Brown's lawyer, MARK GERAGOS, knows it's very likely the judge in the Rihanna case will revoke Brown's probation, which could put him behind prison bars for up to 4 years. The rehab move is an act of good faith, showing Brown is dealing with his problems.
Brown was arrested in Washington, D.C. on Sunday for assaulting a man and fracturing his nose. The felonious assault charge was reduced to simple assault on Monday.
The LA district attorney's office is reviewing the charge. If Brown's 2009 probation for assaulting singer Rihanna is revoked, Brown could spend 4 years in prison.
