Outkast wunderkinder Andre Benjamin, aka Andre 3000 has always been a student of artistic expression. Dre's Benjamin Bixby clothing line is now defunct because his target demographic would rather wear their pants below their thighs.
Every night of Outkast's much-hyped Reunion tour, the 39-year-old musician designer graced the stage in one of 47 custom jumpsuits bearing messages for mass consumption, such as my personal favorite, "narcissistic americans."
The jumpsuits worn by Andre 3000 in concert are now on display at Art Basel in Miami, Florida.
Outkast is art, and it’s as simple as that. Even when Big Boi and Andre 3000 aren’t on the mic, they are creating and expressing themselves. On Tuesday evening (Dec.2), Art Basel Miami Beach opened up the talked about exhibit with 47 jumpsuits previously worn by Three Stacks. Simply titled “i feel ya: SCAD + André 3000 Benjamin,” the installation is happening now at The Savannah College of Art and Design Museum’s pop-up at Mana Miami. To go along with Andre’s jumpsuit display, filmaker Greg Brunkalla created a short movie with 3000’s quotes as subtitles
The “i feel ya” exhibition will run until Dec. 7.
