It’s ok to be honest, however, my opinion is that it helps when honesty is conveyed through respectful means. Take the following scenario for example:

John Doe comes to work with breath that hums like the Mississippi Mass Choir. In addition, he also commits the offense of using breathy words that require extra breath and emphasis (think words that begin with the letter “h”).

Ok: Pull John to the side in private and do the sandwich approach. “Hey John, you do great work and I appreciate you as a co-worker. I noticed that there is a rather peculiar smell that eminates when you speak. It could possibly be from coffee or sinus drainage, but I just wanted to bring it to your attention, so that you are aware. Know that you are a valuable member of the team and I wanted to come to you in respect and peace. Have a great day.

Not ok: In front of everybody someone says, “Man golly! Your breath smells like backed up sewage. What’s the prollum ill?”

The delivery of the message, as well as the timing, is just as important as the message itself. Sometimes the effectiveness of the actual message is lost due to how or when the message is conveyed.

I am just presenting an alternative viewpoint. Not expecting you to agree. Just fft
