As Sandrarose.com reported exclusively on Saturday, Whitney Houston's only child, Bobbi Kristina Brown, is brain dead and on life support at North Fulton Hospital. What that means is Bobbi's body is being kept alive on machines but her brain cells are dying off rapidly due to loss of blood circulation to most of her brain.
Bobbi Kristina's husband Nick Gordon found her unresponsive and face down in a bathtub full of water at their Roswell, GA., home on Saturday morning. A source told Sandrarose.com that Bobbi was not breathing and had no heart rate when paramedics arrived on the scene.
Emergency personnel were able to restart her heart and transport her to North Fulton hospital where she is in intensive care.
Doctors have given her father, singer Bobby Brown, 46, the grim prognosis and asked him to consider removing Bobbi Kristina from life support -- but he refused.
Now comes word from gossip tabloid TMZ.com that doctors found a "glimmer" of life somewhere deep in the recesses of Bobbi Kristina's brain.
According to TMZ, doctors testing Bobbi's brain response to different stimuli "saw minimal response during one of the tests."
In order for doctors to make a definitive diagnosis of brain death there can be no response to a battery of brain function tests.
But TMZ didn't indicate what the response was. It could have been a flinch or a finger movement or a flickering eyelash. Such movements are normally seen when a brain is dying, as evidenced by the tragic Jahi McMath case.
Apparently this glimmer of activity was enough for Bobby Brown to put off making funeral arrangements for his daughter.
It is natural for a father to refuse to give up hope even when there is no possible hope of his child's recovery.
Jahi McMath's family continue to believe she will make a miraculous recovery, even though several doctors disagree and the coroner signed off on her death certificate.
It is unknown how long Brown was deprived of oxygen, but irreversible brain death normally occurs after 4 minutes.
There are unconfirmed reports that Brown and Gordon fought last week and Gordon moved out of the home to stay with a friend. Brown reportedly called Gordon from the bathroom to say she was going to take her life.
UPDATE: A source told Channel 2 reporter Jessica Jaglois that the family will make the decision to take Bobbi Kristina off life support within the next few days.
