Joseph Davis Ethan Peterman

A missing 5-year-old Kennesaw boy was found safe at a home in DeKalb County early Friday, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Kennesaw police say Joseph T. Davis abducted his son, Ethan Peterman, on Thursday after stabbing the child’s mother multiple times.

The AJC.com reports that officers knocked on a door at a home on Landover Drive in DeKalb County around 4 a.m. Friday. The homeowner who answered the door told them Davis was upstairs and the boy was asleep downstairs.

Police located the sleeping child and then proceeded to an upstairs bedroom where Davis was found hiding in a closet. Davis was arrested without incident and is being held without bond.

Kennesaw police Officer Scott Luther told WSBT-TV the uninjured boy was transported to Egleston Children’s Hospital for evaluation.

The saga began on Thursday when Davis stabbed Ethan’s mother at an apartment complex off Cobb Parkway around 6:30 p.m.

The AJC reports that the bleeding woman ran screaming from the apartment and alerted neighbors who called police. Davis and Ethan were gone by the time police arrived on the scene.

The unidentified mother is being treated for multiple stab wounds at a local hospital. Her condition is unknown.

Davis had previously attacked the woman in front of her son and threatened to kill her. “I will murder you,” Davis allegedly said. “You will only leave here in a body bag.”

In another domestic violence incident, Davis held the woman and her son against their will for several hours in her apartment.

Davis has repeatedly stalked and threatened Ethan’s mother, according to the AJC. Yet he was free to walk the streets.
