Former Disney star Zendaya Coleman has apparently learned the hard way that she shouldn't wear fake dreadlocks extensions just because her father wears dreads. Contrary to popular belief, dreadlocks are not a fashion statement. Dreadlocks are a symbol of spiritual growth and should not be taken lightly by Americans.
The 18-year-old Oakland native wore fake dreadlocks extensions when she attended the 2015 Academy Awards in Los Angeles last weekend.
She was interviewed on the red carpet by E!'s "Fashion Police" co-host Giuliana Rancic, who mentioned that Coleman looked like she smelled of 'patchouli oil'. Members of the live audience say they overheard co-host Kathy Griffin say "or weed" off-camera.
The "or weed" comment was originally attributed to Fashion Police panelist Kelly Osbourne, who flipped out on Twitter.com and threatened to quit the show.
Coleman, who is biracial, and her dad Kazembe Coleman, who is black, were seen spending quality time together in Hollywood, CA., on Thursday night. Zendaya's fake hair weave dreads were replaced by her own medium length hair which she styled in soft waves.
