Mariah Carey celebrates her official residency At Caesars Palace Hotel in Las Vegas

Mariah Carey is not the gifted singer she once was. Decades of touring and recording have taken a toll on her vocal cords. Recent live performances by Mariah ended in disaster as she struggled to hit the high notes that once came so effortlessly for her.

So it comes as no surprise that Mariah has already canceled a show one week into her residency. It probably wasn’t a good idea to offer Mariah a residency and expect her to perform multiple times a week.

From Gossip Cop:

Mariah Carey cancelled her Wednesday “#1 To Infinity” show in Las Vegas, one week into her residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The singer has been struck with bronchitis after performing just three times. The cancellation was very last-minute, and ticket-holders only found out when they arrived at the theater, where a sign read, “Tonight’s performance has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.”

Carey posted at 9:30 p.m. local time, “Hey guys.. I’ve been fighting bronchitis for the past few days.. almost better but on mandatory vocal rest per doctor’s orders. I’m so sorry to cancel tonight’s show but I promise to make it up to you!!! Love you always, MC.” Gossip Cop has reached out for clarification since Carey promised to “make it up,” while the sign at Caesars Palace noted the cancelled show would “not be rescheduled.”
