Tami Roman miscarriage

Sad news. Basketball Wives star Tami Roman suffered a miscarriage.

Gossip tabloid TMZ.com reports Roman — who got her start on MTV’s “The Real World: Los Angeles” — was 3 months pregnant.

Roman and her boyfriend, Reggie Youngblood, broke the news to TMZ.com.

A miscarriage is a spontaneous abortion of a fetus before the 20th week of gestation. In older women miscarriages occur because the lining of the uterus is too thick or too thin (depending on her hormone levels) to support the fertilized egg.

The couple, who appear on the reality TV show Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars — asked for privacy while they try to get through this difficult time.

Childbirth after the age of 40 carries increased risks to the fetus. Experts say the older a women is when she gives birth increases the likelihood of autism and other fetal disorders.

Roman is 45-years-old with 2 grown daughters. She suffered a “mild heart attack” in 2012.
