Grandson of Nelson Mandela charged with raping 15-year-old girl

Nelson Mandela’s grandson was charged with raping a 15-year-old girl inside a South African bar restroom, the NY Daily News reports.

Mbuso Mandela, 24, is being held in jail until a bail hearing on Friday.

The girl told police she met young Mandela while dining with friends at a popular Johannesburg restaurant.

After she excused herself to go the restroom, Mandela assaulted the girl inside the restroom, a family spokesman told the Daily Sun newspaper.

“He grabbed her and raped her inside one of the [toilet stalls],” the spokesman said.

The spokesman said the Mandela family tried to interfere with the police investigation into the rape.

Self-appointed Mandela family enforcer Winnie Madikizela-Mandela allegedly sent her bodyguard — disguised as a cop — to the victim’s home to intimidate the family into dropping the charges.

The bodyguard told the girl’s family that police would not arrest young Mandela.

When the girl’s father asked to see his badge, he couldn’t produce one. “It turned out he had been sent by Winnie,” the family spokesman said.

“Just because they have a famous surname, they think they can get away with crime,” the spokesman said. “Children can’t just be raped and then everything is alright.”

Mandela, who died in 2013, has 17 grandchildren.

I understand the outrage, but I feel like people are blowing this out of proportion. And even on the show she got make-believe backlash.

I think what the writers were trying to illustrate is the fact that people do indeed say wild ish like that on Twitter.

Being accused of a crime doesn’t mean you’re actually guilty.

According to other reports, the girl was allegedly assaulted on 8/7/15, but the incident wasn’t reported to police until 8/14/15. Why did it take a week to report the purported rape?

Furthermore, a police spokesperson said authorities were never informed that the suspect’s family sent a security guard, posing as a police officer, to the so-called victim’s home.

In most cases, impersonating a police officer is a crime. Why didn’t the victim’s family tell authorities about the Mandelas’ alleged attempt to interfere with a police investigation?

The restaurant where this alleged rape occurred, has eight security cameras, but the cameras only hold 120 hours of footage… which means by the time the cops were notified, valuable evidence was lost.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this story has something to do with the $300k the suspect inherited from Mandela.

Something just occurred to me.

After being “raped” and rejoining her family, no one suspected anything was wrong? No bruises? No tears? No torn clothes or disheveled appearance? No look of distress on her face?

When I was a kid, a neighborhood girl knocked on our door after she was sexually assaulted.

Her clothes weren’t torn and there weren’t any bruises, but the unmistakable look of trauma was all over her face.

I find it hard to believe a child was raped and yet, she had the inner strength to remain composed after being attacked in a bathroom.

Everybody should see the movie, Winnie. If that’s her grandson then the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. In the beginning Winnie was a smart shy schoolgirl and married Mandella who was older.
