The tide in the left wing media is slowly turning against the online social media justice group Black Lives Matter.

Once the darlings of liberal media outlets, Black Lives Matter are now feeling the cold steel of a disaffected media in the wake of a spate of cop killings.

Gwinnett County Sheriff Butch Conway vented his anger at the militant group in a scathing statement to the AJC.com.

Conway called BLM a "hate group" and “domestic terrorists with an agenda.”

"To say that I’m angry would be an understatement,” Conway wrote in a letter to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

He blamed the media for the "relentless" news coverage of police shootings of unarmed black men.

“It’s not about race,” Conway wrote.

He noted that the “common denominator in every controversial case of officers using deadly force has been police interaction with people who do not respect the law.”

The media is widely reporting that the suspect who killed a Kentucky state trooper was a BLM supporter.

Joseph Thomas Johnson-Shanks, 25, was shot and killed by police when they cornered him in a wooded area following an intense manhunt.

Police say Johnson-Shanks shot state trooper Joseph Ponder during a routine traffic stop. Two women and two children were in the car with Johnson-Shanks at the time

The NY Daily News obtained photos that place Johnson-Shanks at the Ferguson protests and funeral of Michael Brown, who was killed by a Ferguson police officer.

So far, 25 police officers have been shot and killed in 2015.

    ....here we go....

  • Diva_woman

If it's so easy to call these men terrorists why can't they give the same criticism to trigger happy cops who murder people. Everybody deserves understanding and to not be lumped together but black ppl. It's always "not all cops are bad" but one black person does something and our whole race and movement is invalidated?

  • 88

See this is why the government created the Black Lives Matter movement. It makes it easier for them to label you Domestic Terrorist.

  • SugarFoot a.k.a Ty

Conway called BLM a “hate group” and “domestic terrorists with an agenda.”

    ___________
    So what are the Klan?

  • SpillyNillie

His reply: the klan aint killing cops

  • SummerBaby

So far, 25 police officers have been shot and killed in 2015.
    ------------------
I know more than than 25 black men & women have been killed by police this year.

  • WHITTYwithWORDS

Are the police a hate group too?....bc I mean Ya'll have SOME cops killing folks too.

  • Str8tUpMenace

Soooooo, what does he call the KKK??????

  • mzwhang90210

So because of one man..the whole movement is blamed????

Then you've gotta apply that same logic to police. Because if the one is racist then the whole police organization is racist.
You can't have it both ways.

  • SugarFoot a.k.a Ty

sounds like something they would say :( then he blamed the black killings on people that don't respect the law *blank stare* what about the officers that don't know the laws they're trying to enforce?

  • mzwhang90210

    Speak!

Maybe, just maybe you should blame the damn cops for actually shooting UNARMED black men.
I shouldn't have to fear for my life because my tail-light happens to be out. Or because I didn't signal. Or because I'm STANDING in front of a hotel. Or because the corner of my cell phone looks like a gun in my pocket. Or simply for asking a cop why you pull me over. Or because I happen to be in the "wrong neighborhood" (read: white).

“common denominator in every controversial case of officers using deadly force has been police interaction with people who do not respect the law.”

    ********************
This right here is a LIE. The common denominator is these cops were overly aggressive to people that they have no respect for. Is the way I see it.

  • mzwhang90210

You know...I never really realized how racist some folks really are..until the social media boom.

I have read some of the most vile and ignorant things that people post on social media.... and in comment sections of cnn, yahoo..etc.

I finally had to stop reading them. My head was gonna explode.

  • iWasteTime

    Dear Sheriff Conway,

I think cops are also "domestic terrorists". also the common denominator in every controversial case of officers using deadly force has been police interaction with people whom police do not respect.

839 people to date, have been killed by police in 2015 compared to the 25 police. 3% of the number of people killed by a cop.

Please sit down, take a deep breath and reevaluate policing in America.

  • SUZANNE SUGERBAKER

some days going to lunch early is the only way to keep your job. :tea:

And then watched as a fukking civilian held one on the ground with his knee in her neck?
Whose fault is that Butch? Huh?

  • SpillyNillie

Fault is not in their vocabulary. I've seen shows where cops REFUSED to admit to being wrong, when evidence PROVED they were, because it's simply unheard of in their eyes...they ARE the LAW and CAN"T be WRONG.

  • yallcrazy

Sometimes I think they F-ing with us and do understand. But now im beginning to think that maybe just maybe in that devil mind they do believe what theyre saying and doing. In they mind they think its right. Didn't I just read somewhere that people with no sympathy or console are psychopaths. Killers

  • mzwhang90210

I really don't like the way folks (cops & others) chip away at/spoof the Black Lives Matter slogan.

Yes all lives matter...but all lives are not being snuffed out while they are unarmed and the perps getting away with it because they "fear for their lives." When all lives start being in jeopordy like Black lives...then get at me.

And another thang...(done got me riled up..sorry).

All lives aren't followed around in stores..just because they are Black.

All lives aren't looked at as though everybody in that race is on some kind of public assistance/govt aid program.

All lives aren't subject to ignorant sterotypes like ALL Black women wear weaves, are loud and ignorant...and never get married, just pop out babies.

Lemme calm down. This post has me so heated...I done messed around and lost my silly.

  • Torae

You can't explain BLM logic to white people because they hate black people and will never see it our way. They will continue to hate us, kill us and brutalize us and there is probably nothing we can do about it. If there was something we could do about it it would've been done...400 years and counting and they're still doing the same thing.....

Blah, blah, blah! The BLM movement isn't encouraging police deaths so they need to quit lying. Frankly, I'm at the point where I don't give a rat's behind what people think about the movement. Afternoon Sandra and Roses?. There are worst militant groups on Ig that promotes violence and hatred for whites. What I have read some are linking violence , radical beliefs, and their own agenda to BLM. IMO,?

  • missmiami305

Did y'all hear Aubrey the yt chick divert from responding when asked about black lives matter on the breakfast club? I luv catching yt folk off guard. I mean I didn't expect anything different but still

  • ATL White Guy

Let's break the statement down, a remix. "They are domestic terrorists with an agenda..." - the agenda is to bring light to police brutality, mainly against blacks. "Their message is that police lives don't matter..." - I haven't heard this. Maybe there are a few people bastardizing the true movement to make it sinister, but that is the extreme, not the rule. "...which sounds like a hate group to me." - can't break it down, just shaking my head. Mr. Officer, STFU & STFD

  • mzwhang90210

    Brethren.

He blamed the media for the “relentless” news coverage of police shootings of unarmed black men.
    --------------------
So he really just mad the media is pointing out over ego sized cops who murder citizens

  • Queen Negus

One more thing when these so called Radical groups come for me on IG. I asked what have they done for the Black Movement besides spitting hate and have Marcus Garvey flag for their filter. I remind them their are thousand of ex black panthers sitting in jails accros the country for being fasley accused of crimes they did not commit. I asked have you written, visit or put money on their books or organization to free them. I said get back with me when you had done something positive?

  • ?Sugar&Spice?

o wow...hadn't even seen this. i was just talking bout it on the open post.

  • http://batman-news.com Mickey Knoxx

news flash - When it comes to police brutality most blacks agree with the "Black Lives Matter Movement". it will be hard to find a person that didn't agree with the peaceful protestors. so what I am basically trying to say is it will be hard not to tie this guy in with the movement. heck if I get arrested tomorrow the media may be able to dig up some pictures of me with a sign protesting as well.
oh one more then... the kkk are domestic terrorist but the media never classifies them as such

  • Jusstlookn2

Hi Mickey - Yes, the KKK are listed under that group to include the Aryan Nation, ECO (save the earh) group, Anti Abortion...There is a list out there some where...the FBI "keeps" a watchful eye. Shrug

  • Traci404

And the Domestic Terrorist - White Males are called what ..
    Oh.. Pyschotic?
The Klu Klux Klan and the Arian Nation are what...
    Good Ole Boys?

Why is it when a Black Man retaliates now we are terrorist. But when a white man shoots up a school or a movie theater - he is Mentally ill?

  • LordeAmbler

You said that. Just like the damn doctor that got pulled over with 54,000 in his pocket. High as a kite, got arrested in the back of the patrol car banging his head to a bloody pulp spit blood in the officer face. Is still living today. They will justify what they do but when we do it its a reason to murder us. The black woman wouldn't put her cigarette out and that was breaking the law. Was Eric Garner breaking the law when he was selling Loosies. Gtfoh

  • Jusstlookn2

A hated group of white men that work and run million dollar companies, then there a couple scarrted across cotton, tabbaco, peanut farms aross the south, most are probably unemployed and making moonshine, but they are listed by the FBI as a Domestic Terrorist Group

  • Jusstlookn2

Matter of Fact some would argue that a couple will be on stage tomorrow night give a speech about running the highest office in the land.

  • LordeAmbler

Exactly. That do as I say not as I do cause I'm white mentality worked on my momma and them. But not me.

  • Jusstlookn2

    You mean mall cop

  • LordeAmbler

Right this clown isn't even in the movement.

  • Readytochokemothernatureonout

    Lol don't hurt nobody :)

  • Boonella

No one ever said police lives do not matter. It's clear their lives do matter as every single one of the individuals who have killed police officers are dealt with promptly. Either arrested or killed. We can't say the same for the officers who kill unarmed African Americans.

  • Jusstlookn2

One of my colleagues is nice and little slow..I really think he he is SLOWWWW. We are always good until a BLACK related issue happens. Freddie Grey..He said, there is evidence he he there himself around the police bus/van? Really where is the tape. We never gonna see eye to eye and he does fairly good work. So let just keep it on business.

  • AndStillIRose

But the cops and racist who kill unarmed blacks aren't terrorists though, right.

BLM shud have known they were bout to be drug and villified, the moment they started poping up and physically interrupting events where WHITE PEOPLE,(who not used to being acosted by black ppl) started happening!my personal opinion.

  • 1/8

BLM is misguided. They need to back better causes. Why don't they organize to clean up ghettos, paint neglected houses, run errands for seniors and shut-ins, and address the black-on-black gun-violence?

  • BlameItOnVanity

I am so very tired of people falsely arguing that the Black Lives Matter movement is bullying or hateful. It is the opposite of those things. And I feel that people who spout negative things about #BlackLivesMatter are disingenuous or obstinate, maybe both. Additionally:
    (A) It's not about political correctness. It's about recognizing and respecting other people's humanity, autonomy and agency.
    (B) Some people (especially people of color) are treated unjustly by the police and that does justify civil disturbance of some kind. Otherwise, nothing would change.
    (C) Even if Michael Brown and others slain were bad actors, they didn't deserve to be killed like they were. I've seen nothing to indicate that any crimes the many unarmed men and women of color *might* have committed were capital offense crimes. I have seen white people we definitely knew to have committed violent crimes & knew to have weapons on them handled more deftly and with more mercy than unarmed black people.
    (D) We live in a society that life as a white person has more important than the life of a person of color. That is why saying Black Lives Matter is valid and important. Society needs to be reminded again & again of the fact that black lives do indeed matter until it sinks in and society treats black lives as equally valuable as white lives.

Some of them actually don't. I stated a month ago that it takes a lawyer at least 6 years of additional schooling to practice law but officers get six months of training to enforce :-( Sandra Bland was a perfect example. She asked the officer what he was arresting her for and he couldn't tell her. I When she voiced that and told the bystander to keep recording, she got slammed like Blake. Sadly she never walked out of the precinct

  • SugarFoot a.k.a Ty

Same thing I said :-( Blake had every right to pull a weapon because the officer failed to identify himself. Then when he asked what was going on, the officer said "I'll tell u later." Wtf'!!! U have to tell people what you're arresting them for and read them their rights
