John Wall

NBA star John Wall just dropped 20 stacks on an enormous painting of his face for his 25th birthday.

Wall paid $20,000 for the painting by a street graffiti artist (pictured with Wall above).

John Wall

Wall also spent untold thousands of dollars on a collection of expensive wristwatches for himself.

20 years from now, when Wall is broke and hungry, he won't be able to trade this painting for a hamburger and some fries.

John Wall

From Infelxwetrust.com:

Wall hit up Koi in West Hollywood for a bday bash thrown by Haute Time Magazine. Party organizers tell us guests included several billionaires, top Google execs and NBA superfan Jimmy Goldstein.

But the highlight was the gift — a custom John Wall portrait painted by Madsteez, one of the top street artists in the world. We’re told the piece cost $20k to commission.

Wall also got a custom $8,000 suit from designer David August and a $2,500 Ulysses Nardin barometer.

Let's hope he's investing too before there is a Broke part two. Smh his money though.

I don't even know who this is. Hope he has solid investments like Breezy

Coming here helped me learn what the word"Narcissist" meant, I recognize right away who's the biggest jack azz then I 'member all these posts.

  • You Aint Shyt-LuhYou, B.Sweet

Am I the only person that this painting scares? Like could you imagine waking up in the middle of the night and seeing that?

  • missmiami305

On another note, I'll never understand Jay and Bey's arrangement. He made a playlist for her bday on Tidal...they put up a good front. Almost believable

  • barbeez

If I had it, I would have my wall covered with a picture of me. Why not? Who the hell else is going to do it? I love me some ME!

  • TheRealLee

Typical stupid player behavior. He would have been a hero had he donated that money to four college kids. Typical assclown.

  • Rayne

I laughed my ass off on this crowded Chicago train that wall funny asl the line about the hamburger and fries. Lol

"People with this disorder often believe they are of primary importance in everybody’s life or to anyone they meet." From the article. Please read it. This applies to just about every athlete, politicians, movie folks, rich people, newly become rich people, etc. There are so many people with NPD that the APA is thinking of removing it from the DSM-IV (book listing psychiatric disorders) if they haven't done it already.

I'm sure doing something for someone else, never crossed his mind.

What a loser! The painting is better looking?? Who pays that much money for a painting of themselves? Really? Purposely? I mean, I once nutted on myself accidentally, but that was before I discovered the trusty comp sock?? Plus now I have better aim??

  • Tammie Reed

Walls facial expression looks like he is in shock, like dayum I got this ninja for 20 g's lol. I'm sure the price was escalated too for all the hype & media! Noone ever really knows how much something cost with these pseudo celebs lol. Reminds me of when the media says that someones diamond engagement ring is 2.5 million dollars!!! How do we really know its that much? LOL!

  • TheRealLee

I rather publicly donate than make known spending ridiculous money on a worthless painting. His money, his right, his non-contribution to society. At least Lebron had a right, 1000 kids to college for free.

  • AllmylifeIhadtofight

    Peeks in! Hey Yall

I'm big on donating and volunteering. I have tried to get my sisters to get their children involved in giving back, but they're not interested.

Looks more like Ron Artest aka Metta World Peace ?

  • the guest

Nothing wrong with investing in art. But art that will accrue value. He spent $20,000 on a vanity graffiti painting he could have paid a high school art student to do for $500. The artist knows it too look how big his smile is. He still can't believe it.

  • $103237338

  • Unita Lucinda “Lucy” Freebush

Cha cha cha...we're going OUT tonight!

  • Lorenzo Chaps

We give whitey money for just anything. If the artist were black, this would be nothing more than street art and a phone call away to the cops or something. Amazing.

  • Unita Lucinda “Lucy” Freebush

I totally agree. Like a poster up top said that mugg is 20K and his face is not an investment. If it's on a wall in his house, time to sell it that wall will be painted over. It's not like it's a Jackson Pollock.

  • Unita Lucinda “Lucy” Freebush

Just asking (if you know) because I don't have this service, but who else is offered on the site? It is basically a Bey and Jay fan exclusive fan page? What would make the non-fan appreciate the site?

  • the guest

He really does. You know he was half joking when he said 20K.

I'm not a sports person, so I had to Google Marcus Dupree. Just read about him in an artcle... The Best That Never Was.

Public schools need to bring back General Business classes. I learned a lot from those classes in high school.

  • JerseyMom

I thought it was a painting of Nas tho. Blank stare.

  • Unita Lucinda “Lucy” Freebush

    Hi ? ?

You make it sound like a ShamWow. Find another coaster for your nightstand.

  • the guest

    Exactly.

  • the guest

Add to that... And it ain't really a painting of him but for 20K it's you lol

  • MookieFly

I thought it was a mix between Kanye and Ray J. Shrug

  • http://Copblock.org aDingoDrankMyBabies

?A shamwow?hmmm You think I could market it? Would probably be popular amongst teens and college kids?

  • Canary Red™

    Knowledge is power!!!!!!!!

I said that when I was watching it, they were ignorant. His "friend" who was his "pastor" called his self Rev. Ken stole that boys money!!!

He went threw so much that when he finally got his first big break signing a 5 million dollar contract with the NO Breakers - he received his first check for 45,000 dollars (back in the early 80's mind you) gave it to the "Rev" Ken who told him he was going to invest it. Never saw that check or 45,000 again!
Needless to say he ended up givibg the man all his checks and had to ask the man for his money to pay his bills!!!!!

And the story is way deeper than this snippet I'm sharing with you -from beginning to end. He ended up suing the Rev.

  • Canary Red™

  • hotntot95

but why remove it? esp, if its a true disorder...self indulgence or people who thinks the world revolves around them.. they obviously need help with something..

  • 1/8

That is horrible. Disgusting. I don't understand people who take advantage of other people.

I know someone who inherited several multi-unit apartment buildings and 5 million dollars cash when he was 18. By the time he was 21, his family members had bled him dry and stolen his property.

The poor guy wasn't very bright and he refused to believe his family would do him wrong.

  • Sexy CJ

20 years from now, when Wall is broke and hungry, he won’t be able to trade this painting for a hamburger and some fries.......Lol....

  • TheRealLee

Politicians, favorites in Hollywood and entertainment; the removal is politically motivated. Think about it.

  • Canary Red™

See all kinds of wrong. Did he get all that right then a there? I hope it was spaced out for him. And the fact that he wasn't so bright and they didn't look out for him is so low! Family can also truly be your worst enemy!!!!

  • BlackGlamour

that 20k could have went to several needy families, i swear black negro athletes & their obsession w/themselves, . . . ., i'ts an UGLY painting, IJS . . .

  • Canary Red™

    ????????

  • hotntot95

im thinkin bout it and im here for it, it seems like alot of bull.. when u can just change your eff'd up personality trait...smh

  • TheRealLee

But that's the thing. The disease does not allow them to see faults or chinks in their armor. Look at Kanye. In his mind, he can do no wrong, he needs worshipping, basically, he fits the bill for this condition.

  • 1/8

No, he got it all at once. Shortly thereafter, he started showing up with expensive cars; it seemed like he had a new car every week.

I remember asking him how he was going to manage his properties and he was clueless. ?

At time, I was about a year older than he was, but my parents had been property owners for years. I grew up listening to them discuss their dealings. So, I suggested he contact a lawyer and a property management firm, but my advice fell on death ears.

  • hotntot95

aha! i was on tumblr and it was a post about the old kanye and the kanye we got now, wow, he kinda acts childlike, he rambles and talks in circles like he's havin an anxiety attack...and kim has a BOOK OF SELFIES!!

  • Canary Red™

Just a shame! Did he ever recover from his loss?

  • TheRealLee

He will have an interesting time with those people. I don't see things ending well for him.

  • 1/8

This happened in the late 80s. The last I heard, one story indicated he was flat broke and living with a "friend." Another account indicated someone, possibly a lawyer, took legal action on his behalf and took control of his finances.

  • hotntot95

two NARCISSIST with money, found each other...yeah i agree. and she has 2 kids with him..he may not survive this hit, and it is coming.

KW is not going quietly in the night like all the other men in this family. No way No how. You already see the set up, him being accused of cheating with an ex-girlfriend. Child please, that's only the soft start until they get at him with that situation he has going on in Paris.

In the grand scheme of things, if you have it - is $20K really too much to pay for something you really want?

  • sp

20K went to a starving artist like myself that won't have to work another square job thanks to this man who spreads his finances in his own community. Im with it

  • sp

This man reinvests in his community and created an income stream to where his money circulates within his community. The funny part about this post is you can criticize his decision all day but name at least 10 black male or female c.e.o.'s or c.o.o.'s that you can consistantly post about that aren't involved in entertainment but make it a purpose to keep a financial power base in our community where the dollars fluctuate and stay within the community......

  • Zizzle

    That's a cold painting.

  • Anna Maria

The article said it was a gift, so why say Wall paid for it?

Not true. He runs a program for young people in Washington, DC. He is quite involved with giving back in DC.

Only a miserable person speaks negativity over someone. If this man wants to spend every dime of his money on himself, that's his business. He earned it. Prayerfully, he will know financial security for the duration of his life.

  • Fendi

And she is king narcissist. How is she so readily able to ID narcissism in others if and when she never acknowledges her own faults and shortcomings? Physician, heal thyself. I've been here and seen her post incorrect information in stories, and she refused to correct it, despite knowing she was wrong. What is that? Arrogance. If one is going to be quick to point out another's faults, they should be quicker to acknowledge and correct their own, IMHO.

  • Fendi

There's a popular IG site that creates images of famous athletes and entertainers. I am a huge fan of their work. I really admire their creativity. Being a doll and stuffed animal collector, I appreciate their work as a I do a dope action figure. I have always wanted my own doll or action figure to add to my collection. Long story short, they offered to create a likeness of me in their own signature style. I am elated. I consider it a huge compliment, considering I am locally known and locally grown. Does that make me a narcissist for accepting their offer, especially when I never asked them to make it for me or...?!.

  • Fendi

True, because Elizbeth Taylor's portrait done by Andy Warhol is worth zilch, as is Marilyn Monroe's portrait and the myriad of other entertainers and personalities that he immortalized, in both his paintings and his Polaroids. And Salvador Dalí bocca sofa, inspired by Mae West's lips, is by no means iconic. We are so quick to down one another and it sucks. It truly stinks.

  • Molly

    "Beautiful Potrait,
Nothing wrong with it. But why waste $20,000. When tons of talented unknown artist could have done it for far less & would have benefited from the exposure. ?

This is why the teams that pay their talents such high wages, should also provide them:

    1.) Basic classes about personal
    finances/wealth management;
2.) Referrals to the very same wealth
    managers and tax professionals that
    team owners and managers use;
3.) Courses in social and business etiquette.

Players, with some practical knowledge about finances and an ability to effectively communicate their requirements and needs, AND to hear other's requirements and needs are apt to do much better outside of their respective sports competition fields; learn how to invest in their futures, give charitably for the benefit of others in dire circumstances, and to spend wisely on things that matter and are lasting.
