‘Empire’ Ratings Continues its Downward Spiral

Fox Network is in panic mode after Empire‘s TV ratings took another tumble this week.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the once popular soap opera musical lost another 1 million viewers on Wednesday night.

From Hollywood Reporter:

Though the series still easily won Wednesday night, in both the key demo and total viewers, it slid another half of a point among adults 18-49 for an average 4.6 rating. The Fox drama also averaged 12.2 million viewers. Empire has seen its time-shifting take rise with each same-day fall since the lofty premiere, so it’s becoming apparent that it currently isn’t nabbing the appointment viewing status that it had during its freshman season.

Insiders whisper that Fox Network execs are ignoring the live viewer ratings and focusing instead on the artificially inflated DVR ratings.

Rap mogul 50 Cent blamed Empire‘s drop in ratings on “too much gay stuff.”

At this point, it looks like nothing short of firing Lee Daniels will save this sinking ship.

While I do not watch the show (I tried to watch the 3st episode) I agree with 50, TV was better when gay was taboo vs being the main plot for every show. It was water cooler worthy when it wasn’t so forced. Nothing if left to the imagination any more. Gays have always been on tv but it was more interesting when it wasn’t shoved in. Now days shows lack substance- back in the day shows had lessons and plots and story lines you can follow. Will & Grace is still one of my favorite shows and it was full of gay stuff but well written and mixed. Maybe it’s just the black shows over compensating.

The driver brought the $5.99 pizza to Sycamore Creek Church in Pickerington in suburban Columbus on Oct. 4. The Rev. Steve Markle brought her onstage and asked her the biggest tip she’d ever received. She said about $10.

That’s when Markle told her the teaching at the church had been about generosity so the congregation had taken up an offering for the driver. She broke into tears.

The only way to turn this thing around is the bring the family back together. No one likes Jamal and Hakeem being at odds for this long. Last season there were a lot of comments about how people loved their relationship. Cookie and Lucious can be frenemies, but two seperate companies may be stretching it too far. I love what they are doing with Hakeem in terms of his business savvy, but I want that back at Empire. Been saying that all season. I also think that what they did to Jamal has failed. He’s a whiny, snivelling idiot this season. Not cool. He’s supposed to be more like Lucious this season, but he’s not. Even with all of that, I still love the show and have hope that it will get back to where it was in terms of synergy.

Andre and ashy Becky digging up Vern dead azz to clear Lucious and gets back on with Empire. Hakim scouts another girl singer for his group and Cookie gets grilled by the titty lady prosecutor in jail over a warrant that ain’t even really hers (porcha gave a fake name on a ticket ) then flips it and gets the apex radio deal shut down ..allegedly. Empire has an 18 episode order. It aint going nowhere soon. One of the problems is that they opened last season with the IPO story….who the heck knows what an IPO is? And why was it SOOOO important. And you notice now they don’t mention the IPO or the company going public. I think a lot of this financial stuff is flying over the general public’s head.

There are a lot of unexplained loose ends to the stories. They introduced Lucious’ little girl last season and now she’s gone? And baby mama is not asking for support payments? Nah. Won’t happen in the real world.

It wasn’t 6 months it was 3 month. The show needs someone the audience can bond with. A sympathetic figure, someone you can really feel sorry for, or root for. And by the main personalities changing their characterizations, it’s hard to know who they are from one week to the next.

Empire stupid and even the cast knows it. A check is a check. Why they still have Cookie dressed like it’s 1987 no one knows. I’m over it. I can watch or miss it, no bother on this end.

There are a plethora of shows that were great or “high ratings grabber” and then cancelled. Remember Prison Break? Empire will have the same outcome because they think the viewing audience is just that dumb and simple minded. Like sm1 else posted; there are so many loose ends from last season. And the over-acting or poor acting. Just because it’s winning in ratings on Wednesday nights does not make it a good show.

The proof is in the advertisers or ad costs being cut because ads are being pulled. Hire some real writers and producers for this one to make it. I’m over the mini-concerts week after phuckin week. Then it’s like oh yeah, this is a tv show. A new writer would have been laughed out of tinseltown had they presented any one of these episodes as a spec script.
